What console should be major tournament standard for Mortal Kombat X?

Apparently someone unrelated to NRS told him MK9 was developed on PS3 and he absolutely refused to believe me when I told him it wasn't and why I knew lol. He got SO mad when I told him he was wrong! All hearsay aside, it would only make sense to develop on 360 because it's the Unreal 3 engine, which is tightly knit with Microsoft, DirectX Windows RT. Boon has said on twitter that MKX is developed on a highly customized Unreal 3. At this point, I don't know if it would absolutely confirm that it's developed on XONE.

The strange thing being at all the shows they have shown the game as playable it has been on PS4. I know this doesn't mean much, I just haven't seen or heard of it being played on One at a show yet.

Who knows, can't wait to find out though!

Heres some other food for thought though on the 360 thing. Will PS3/360 be supported by the most up to date patches?? WiiU/PS4/Vita were always and still are behind on Injustice/MK9 patches.

I'm just wondering if it will be the same thing with the 360/PS3 versions. I have no doubt the game will run at 60fps on both consols and probably be close to the same feel. I just expect less content alla "persistent Online mode".

Who the hell really knows though.

I do know that I won't travel for a tourny unless the game is being played on the best possible console known for game performance at that specific time.

The arguemets for each console are
XB1: i dont wanna buy a conerter
PS4: It will show off the game the best, more people have it than XB1 and it is likely to have the exclsuives...

sorry XB1 players but you have no valid arguement for using an xb1 over PS4 at majors

Based on what you wrote, every "point" for the PS4 side is either an opinion or an assumption, and the XBONE side is not an opinion. I don't know how you agreeing with their opinions make the arguments valid, but regardless, none of the actual arguments matter anyway. We are going to have to wait until the game comes out no matter what.

Interesesting thread. If Xbone does become the tournament standard then I definitely won't be a tourney player. I'm not supporting Xbox. I have no desire to pick up that joystick. Why can't everyone just be PS players?! Lol. Oh well.

My only concern is that, thus far, the spectrum of controllers for next generation systems is severely limited, and I'm not sure how well/viable the stock controllers are for tournament use, how easily they can be desynched etc.

Now as far as performance reputation goes... doesn't really mean anything concerning predecessor/successor consoles. MVC2 ran better on the Dreamcast than the original Xbox despite the latter clearly being a much more powerful system. It's all subjective to familiarity with architecture. The PS2 had very obscure programming ethics for it's time, yet developers had to force themselves to get the most out of it since there was no other mass market competitors at the time. Same most likely would've happened with the PS3 if the 360 wasn't a commercial success. (which was partially helped by the PS3 being so ridiculously expensive in it's first few years)

The PC port is still likely to be based on the PS4/XB1 build however. That's what (I assume) Dizzy meant.

Haha. Just had no time and money to come to evo from france to show how russians can play and make undestand to us people that best us dosn't mean world best players. There much more countries in the world. Remember my name and will see 2015 or 2016 evo

I don't really care either way but I'm getting it on ps4. I'm just scared they there won't be a new HitBox or mod ready by April :( I can't play for extended periods with a controller :(

Due to facts posted above I vote for the console that allows for least issues.

This is hard to know pre tournament since the tournament gives opportunity for a system to over or underperform. But look at mku when it was used on psn for so long. Money invested in consoles and game copies make it difficult to switch consoles since the overhead cost of buying 50 games etc.

I guess we will just wait and see.

Killer Instinct is on X1, so it seems like the most sensible solution for TOs. I have both, so I wouldn't care either way, but my personal preference would also be X1. To each their own.

Of course it's an subsumption lol, the game isn't out yet but I assume that more people will buy the ps4 version because more people own ps4s and even ed boon described kf running on ps4 as having their 'most suphisticated performance'.

NRS is developing the PS4 and Xbox One ports while another studio is developing the last gen ports from what I heard. Kinda like how they did with the Vita version of MK9.

I'm getting it on both PS4/One to be good to go.

As long as no tournys try run it on 360 or PS3 when NRS isn't touching those versions, tourny should be the highest possible standard and version of the game. Hell if it ends up being the best on PC, I would support that as well.

I requested 360 for MK9 from the beginning, but players were like "Oh no, can't do that, PS3 is Evo standard!" Well those are low standards. Since that is done away with, it has to be on the best system. I have returned/sold/traded almost all my PS3 copies of MK9, Kompete edition, Injustice, and Ultimate Edition. Think about that, I bought like 15 copies of 2 variations of 2 games, basically an extended rental. I think I have 1 copy of each left, maybe 2 in some cases but I don't plan on ever using PS3 again for those games, I might even sell some of our 6 PS3s, or perhaps give away a couple during the inevitable MKX System Fundraiser Stream.

Yea I'm actually betting there will be no difference besides base contrast on either current gen system. You can't compare the ps4 to the ps3 because the ps3 is so different from ps4 and xbox 360. It was difficult to program for and it showed on many multiplats. Here's hoping there's less diversity among different versions of the same game, especially when the hardware is near identical.

Xbox but yes I agree this really is asking which are you more of a fan of Xbox or PS lol. I seem to remember reading that PS3 had issues vs. Xbox 360 with multi console games at times. Forget which games though per-se.

P.S. I'm always amused when I see those "PC master race, PC players>>>consoles" yet has anyone ever had a major fighting game tourney on PC? lmao every player using keyboards?....didn't think so. "Hey, wanna play SF or MK, sure PC let me get my KB" LOL

Maybe they can move the mouse up, forward, forward back for fatality? lol And I know MAME is on PC, but everyone I know who has it bought a console like controller to play SF Rainbow Edition, MK 2 etc. I'm sure with WOW, RPGs, DOTA etc, etc PC is the preference but with fighters, it's low tier til I see otherwise. Would be willing to be you'd see more UMK3 DS and MK 9 Vita players than PC fighting players.

What converter? There are no ps4 converters, and the one thats there is banned because it fucks up people's controllers.

1) if you think no one uses sticks in tournament you're fucking stupid and obviously you've never been anywhere ever.
2) Cronus adapters are banned, they mess up the inputs of all the controllers in the console.
3) Russians are well-known for being crap at the game. Your post annoyed me.
4) Why are you even posting about the standard that should be used in american tournaments, when you live in Europe?

Yes, there are a lot of games that are ran on pc. And yes, there are people who bring their keyboards (even in MK we had Winterwarz).

I love my ps4 and consider myself to be a Sony fanboy but even I think that Mkx should run on xb1 for tournaments. You gotta think what's best for everyone and not just on your console preference.
