Which controller would be the best choice for MK on PC?

Hi again,

I'm still playing a lot of MK9 (Komplete edition) with my friend on PC (Steam version). I play with a following controller:

.

I'm pretty satisfied with it due to the fact, you can switch any of the pad and joysticks position plus afaik it's the only xbox controller with the option of ps3 dpad. It has some downsides like probably the weight or buttons being placed too far from each other, but at the end of the it's pretty nice controller for PC use and I love it.

On the other hand, my friend plays with some crappy cheap logitech controller with a "floating" dpad, which is probably one of the worst options for fighting games possible. So of course, he's finally coming to his senses and wants to buy something better. I would recommend him an MLG controller long ago, but for him the problem is price. TBH, that controller is pretty pricey and if I'm not mistaken still holds the orice tag of about 100$. That's too much for him.

So basically what I'm asking you is if there's any option possible for an controller which would be great for MK and Injustice, but mainly MK, with a price tag of about 50$ max. I know there's an option to use ps3 pad with a converter, but I (and him too), don't like that option very much. He wants to have something great which is already designed for pc or xbox 360 in mind (xbox pads work by "plug and play" on pc).

So yeah, please help us out, thanks people.

Get used to keyboard, you'll be happy you did. It only took me like two days of practicing cyrax resets to get the hang of it, makes characters with dbf type inputs a lot easier to use

Doesn't that mlg controller work on PC?
Yes it does, but after a bit of research I found out that controller is actually far from perfect for MK type games. Its dpad is actually connected in the botton which means all 4 dirrections are moving when u press just one. That means it's not very precise and probably way worse than ps3 or ps2 controller.

I don't really want to use ps controllers on pc, I don't like to use stuff like converters and special drivers. Is it really impossible to get a good controller for xbox 360 which would be just great for this type of games? Googling for 2 days brings me more questions than answers, it seems everybody has their own opinion and everyone suggests something else. But at the end of the day, I've never seen a solid xbox or pc controller which would emulate the dpad on ps controllers. Is it really to hard for producers to make something like that?

Actually, I don't want to blaim you guys for any of that, my search for perfect pc controller however continues. Just one question more do I have, What about those evil controller solutions everybody seems to be talking about? I like tha fact that I could mod my basic xbox controller which I already have. Is worth the money and time? Concluding from the photos of those dpads, I could only say that they look strange to me and perhaps not very usefull, but of course I could be wrong. It's no problem for me to mod my controller, I've already done it before with the "pringles mod", but unfortunately the results are not enough for my needs and wishes.

And finally, Does that Evil controller company ship items to Europe? Or even better, is it possible to obtain that stuff from Europe based web stores? If anyone has any of the answers to questions asked, I'd be very very very extremely happy. Thanks in advance fellow tym-ers!

I just bought this pad for about 10€, shipment included. To me, the dpad looks incredibly similar to ps pads. It should work "plug and play" on PC, what u think bout dat?

You can buy a PS3 or PS4 controller and use it on your PC, there are now software (free also) that let those controller work on a PC. I use my PS3 controller for example, I use Xinput Wrapper, google it my friend.

xbox one controller. $70 > charge and play bundle
the dpad on it is alot better compared to the 360. clicks and I don't mis-input up or down when hitting left direction or right direction, responsive as well. and its install driver > plug and play.

Get one of those cheap saturn usb pads and a geniune saturn pad. Swap the parts from the geniune pad into the cheap clone saturn usb pad and you are good to go. Whole thing should be less than $40.

I have the Saturn PS2 Pad and only use it for games like SF4, I tried using it for MK9, but the d-pad is not suited for it.

I'm not joking. If I could use a keyboard on consoles like I can on PC, I'd never pick up a controller.

I can even give you a good key layout if you need it, you barely even have to move your hands.

I'd just like to ask, are the face buttons less 'squishy' than the 360 face buttons?

Hori Gem Pad

What u say about that one? I've read a lot of reviews of people saying this controller is supposed to have a really great dpad and it should be one of the best solutions for FG on xbox (and PC). I'd love to hear your opinions, maybe even from personal experience?

Plus a big photo, I think this controller looks really great:

How is this viable for you? Keyboards have known issues of key blocking, where if you press two keys it blocks pressing certain other ones at the same time.
