Input the following sequence:sorry noob question, how can you option select b3 to lift?
I don't know how long you have been playing the MK games for but they've been apart of the games mechanics for a while now. Calling for major changes to the games mechanics is way to early, instead learn how to counter them with the tools that your character(s) have. Simple.Yeah option selects are just cheap and they need to go.
holy shiet thanks a lot, didn't know you can also do it even if it's not meter burned, i only saw the option select video here on tym where you have to press 123 instead of block to option select, will def try this one out, thanks again!Input the following sequence:
b3 xx db1 dd
If you hit, the lift will come out.
If they block, the down down input after the lift will somehow override it.
That's how option selects work in this game.
It will work on anything. The down down input will override the previous command. You could also put in a continuation of the b3 string to have it do something else on block. I'm not familiar with it, but let's say b33 is the full string. If you input b3 xx bf2 dd3, you will get b3 soul ball of hit and b33 on block. It's nifty stuff. Inputs have to be fast though. Takes some practice.holy shiet thanks a lot, didn't know you can also do it even if it's not meter burned, i only saw the option select video here on tym where you have to press 123 instead of block to option select, will def try this one out, thanks again!
on a side note, does this work for b3 xx teleport or b3 xx soulball cancels too? or only for mystic lift?
That's a different thing. If you press more directionals after specials you can prevent the specials from coming out. The option selects come from hitstun and blockstun having different cancel window lengths.holy shiet thanks a lot, didn't know you can also do it even if it's not meter burned, i only saw the option select video here on tym where you have to press 123 instead of block to option select, will def try this one out, thanks again!

I press D and it's enough. And the rest of the B3 chain is unsafe (both options) hence why I only rely on the 1st hit.It will work on anything. The down down input will override the previous command. Its not the OS thats cheap either, its really game breaking .These OS are getting ridiculous, these moves are supposed to be punishable when guessed wrong but they award the risky moves to be safe. At least in SF, tech throws can be punished with a combo; these just allow safe 50/50 loops for most of the characters. Looks similar to injusticeYeah option selects are just cheap and they need to go.
Yeah I was just using it as an example of how you can get two different options with this tool, not suggesting you actually use it in this situation. That's a different thing. I tried doing these but with B3 into teleport. Never got it to work.Input the following sequence:
b3 xx db1 dd

Sure, I'll check it out when I get home from work in a little bit. Haven't done much with Ermac, but I know it's difficult to do these with single button inputs preceding the option select area just because of how fast you need to do it. I'll see if I can pull it off, if it is in fact possible. Based on the system, it should be, but I can't say for certain.I tried doing these but with B3 into teleport. Never got it to work.
Am I just doing these wrong ? Or will it not work with teleport?
Would you be able to test this? Could you also check if it works with F4 ?
Alright, so I messed with it a little and I really can't say for sure if I'm getting it to happen or not. If I am, I only pull it off about 10% of the time. I can get the option select to work pretty consistently if I do something like 22 xx db4dd, so I'm pretty sure it SHOULD work, but doing it off of a single hit (which b3 and f4 are) is veeerrryyyy difficult. At least for me. So based on the system, it should work, but based on my inability to pull it off, I can't say for sure. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.I tried doing these but with B3 into teleport. Never got it to work.

B1 can actually be ducked. I don't think it is a true mid if the game labels it as one.Alright, so I messed with it a little and I really can't say for sure if I'm getting it to happen or not. HOWEVER!
I did find what I think is a pretty useful one that is pretty easy to do.
b12 db4 dd4
That will give you b12 db4 on hit, which you can follow with d1 xx soul ball for you combo/reset of choice (or d1 tele hang for you mystic hangers on [DON'T]), OR it will give b124 on block, which is neutral on block. Since b1 seems to be a pretty solid whiff punisher and hits mid, I think this'll be a pretty sweet tool. Just make sure you bias your thumb/hand forward a little bit when you're doing the 'down-down' part during the option select, because if you tilt back, you might wind up getting db4, which would mean you option selected a db4 with a db4 lol. Anyways, experiment with it and lemme know what you think.
What?Nice Reward/Reward there.
I wonder what happened to Risk/Reward btw.
smh
These setups were meant to work in a way that if the attacker guesses right, he gets to fuck you up but if you guess right, you fuck up the attacker. In Ermac's case here, he runs game for free. Not cool. What?
The video starts with showing that both options are safe on block vs tempest KL EX spin (4 frame special move punish), so what are you talking about? These setups were meant to work in a way that if the attacker guesses right, he gets to fuck you up but if you guess right, you fuck up the attacker. 1. If you press an extra diagonal after buffering a special move, the special won't come out.The mechanics in this game are so fuckin wonky to me. It's really bothersome. Can someone helo break this down more? Is there a different thread that shows how these work on this game in general? I know you guys are saying the D button press is fast after the special, but how fast? Help me understand this concept in this game

Can you be a bit less cryptic please? That's what I'm talking about.
I already told you, you are either not reading what I'm saying or there is a part of "risk and reward" theory that you aren't quite familiar with. Can you be a bit less cryptic please?
After reading this over and over about 10 times I finally realized you are complaining about a strategy being effective, in a forum that's dedicated to posting effective strategies.I already told you, you are either not reading what I'm saying or there is a part of "risk and reward" theory that you aren't quite familiar with.
ie A setup where I gain advantage via making you guess wrong, was supposed to punish me if you're guessing right.
In this case I have to guess if I'm blocking low or high but it nets me nothing and since it's safe on block I can't even punish the wrong guess, meaning you can potentially keep doing this for free.
