When Did You Become a Gamer?

Cruis'n USA,
ERMAGERD. I loved that game. Double tapping the gas to wheelie and then doing tricks over jumps was awesome. I once went with my dad to a bar and they had the arcade system of that. I figured out how to get the other cars and the "top players" there nearly shit themselves because they had no idea. I also beat their times :REO

My dad used to play Mario Bros. while I watched as a toddler. I grew into trying it myself and it was all downhill from there. I've been playing games pretty nonstop since I was like 3.

used to have a little ass 5 inch tv in my room which was the cause of major eye-strain and headaches playing Ninja Gaiden for hours on end.

i also remember the first time playing Mike Tyson, so many ppl over but no one could beat Glass Joe. lol  great memories

My friend got an NES as a birthday present (that my dad bought for him...). That was the very first time I played games, and the first games I played were Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. We had a ton of fun while we were there but when it was time to go home, I got really angry lol. I was pissed at my dad for buying a Nintendo for someone else and leaving our family Nintendo-less..

That's about right.
For Christmas my parents bought me a Nintendo bundle with Super Mario Bros. 3. I was hooked ever since. I mostly played Mario games until I got a Sega Genesis, then I played Sonic 2 and such until I randomly chose Mortal Kombat II one day. Been playing the games ever since. I still prefer platforming games to this day. Bro Force anyone? Also, I'd like to suggest Shovel Knight to those that miss them days.

Lol totally forgot about arcades. Cruisin calif and cruisin exotica!! Played those at the bowling alley while my parents bowled. They gave me and my brother enough money/change to play long enough for them to finish. Loved it. And some zombie shooting game too

I've never considered myself a gamer. I just play games.

But my first game was this:

Was never able to beat it. I would get to the sewer level and it would scare the s* outa me and cause me to stop playing.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
since Atari came out .... however, for specific fighting games, since SF II came out in 1991 .... but only when the first MK (1992) was released that I started enjoying this kind of game ..... MK franchise surely is my favorite game series along with Resident Evil.

Since like 2001 when I've played Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros. It was so awesome, but now gaming is dying for me and I care less and less sigh that stuff. Thinking of selling all my shit.

First game I remember was Mortal Kombat II on Sega. I didn't start becoming a major gamer until PSX came out. Then I was into Tekken, MK Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot, etc. And I've been a gamer ever since whether it's a console or PC.

Since birth, I guess. My dad would always take me to rent Nintendo games every week. I was too young to effectively play but I was intrigued by games nonetheless.

Shit got real when I got Mario 3. I was 4 or 5. My parents had been rolling coins for hours in the kitchen that day. I didn't know why. They just said "it's a surprise."

My dad left the house and came back with Mario 3. I started freaking out like a typical little kid and popped that bitch into the NES. The curtain came up to reveal the sweetest title screen I've ever witnessed. It was perfect. The raising of curtains symbolized the introduction of a beautiful, time killing world where I'd go to escape the everyday menial bullshit for the rest of my life.

Getting Mortal Kombat reinforced my love for gaming even further but that's a long story for another time.
