What's new

Ben Affleck cast as the new Batman in Man of Steel 2

Pig Of The Hut

Day 0 Phenomenal Dr. Fate and Darkseid player
Katie Holmes. She was meh in batman begins. Maggie Gyllenhall while a down grade in appearance gave a better performance.
Once upon a time Katie could act

That was years before Scientology had sex w her

Maggie gyllenhall looks like an AWFUL drew barrymore which is already awful and two wrongs do not make this right. Her brother is more feminine looking than she is

...they should have let the 'MoS' sequel just have been another stand alone Superman film w/ another villain audiences aren't too familiar with (meaning anyone but Lex)

Nolan's Batman is still too fresh in everyone's minds anyway. It doesn't matter if he is a better actor now then when he was when he did Daredevil or if he is just coming back because Hollywood tries to take comic book movies more seriously now.....a new Batman is just too soon, no matter how you spin this.

Besides, DC and WB really needs to get it through their thick skulls that there's more to their superheroes than just Batman and/or Superman when it comes to live action films (obviously the case with some of the Injustice DLC as well). Wanna start introducing other characters in the 'MoS' universe to start building up to a JL movie (because of Marvel's Avengers)? Then why not Flash, Wonder Woman, a new GL, etc?

That would have given Batman more time out of the spotlight. A little more time for the success of Nolan's Batman to wear off. Therefore a new actor being casted as the Dark Knight would've been a little easier to swallow and digest.

But whatever, guess we're at the point of no return now.

When's DragonBall?
I dunno man. I agree about not counting chickens before they hatch..but damn. I feel like this coulda been a 3rd choice or something. I don't see him being bad as Batman....but I don't know if he can pull of Bruce Wayne. Knowhattamean?
He can play Bruce Wayne in his sleep, that's the last of anybody's worries I think. Ben's portrayal of Bats is what many are thinking about I believe, and I think he'll be just fine..I'll even go as far as to say that he might end up being the best Batman/Bruce yet. When you really think about it Chris Nolan's script and directing carried the Dark Knight trilogy,it's not like Bale was really all that great as Bats. He was solid as hell and a pretty good Brcue but there were definitely improvements to be made,Affleck's a comic book fan and a great filmmaker now in his own right. Plus he's 6'3 and reportedly has been hitting the weights/gym for two hours a day since last month meaning he already knew he had the role and is getting down to business. I feel like we're all in for a shocker, bring it on Mr.Affleck show us what ya got :)

But I didn't want to dash
I'm sure Heath Ledger has already been mentioned plenty of times.

While not being a movie guru of any sort, I tend to trust the guy who pretty much made imo the best Batman movies around, also the best comic hero trilogy. I really value his opinion a lot more than a bunch of random people on twitter and ect. Please don't fuck up the movie over a bunch of angry sheep.

To be fair, how many people really knew who Christian Bale was prior to Batman Begins? I'd only seen him in American Psycho and The Machinist, two movies that none of my friends had ever seen.
That's really not the point here. It's not that nobody knows who Affleck is, it's how terrible of an actor he is. At least Bale was really good in American Psycho and Machinist.

There is a head on a pole behind you
I just always think it's a recipe for disaster to cast a very well-known actor as a superhero.

It just makes it really hard for me, and I'm sure a few others, to see the character and not the actor. Guys like Henry and Bale weren't TOO well known (at least not to me) when they showed up in costume, and as such it's easier to see Bruce Wayne as Batman and not Affleck as Batman. I kind of wish they had gone with someone unknown, but if it's a Batman VS Superman movie and not a Batman AND Superman movie, then I already have no expectations. I'll wait for it to come out, but to me, a "vs" in the title is a bigger red flag than an Affleck in the suit.

Okay let me fill you in with some facts mixed in with my own opinion
1. Another stand-alone Superman film would've been fine yes...but a Superman/Batman film puts asses in the seats and lets DC/WB also move forward on their own DC Cinematic Universe plans. It's a win-win situation versus taking another risk like they did with GL and crashed and burned. They want nothing but momentum and sure things at this point as they gear up for Justice League, can't take another big risk so soon and we all know that making this Man of Steel sequel a Superman/Batman film takes care of everything they want to accomplish in the near future.

2.Nolan's Batman is still a tad fresh in folks minds but this Superman/Batman film won't be arriving until the summer of 2015,that's not too bad..lot of people will know nothing about the movie until 2015 rolls around. Plus many aren't that wary of it in the first place and aren't that attached to the Nolan verse to disregard something new. Bale was solid but Nolan's script and directing carried those films not him.

3.Yes there's more to DC than Superman and Batman and WB knows that very well, however like I said in #1 they also can't afford to take a big risk just yet after taking a hit with the GL film. They're also dead set on gaining momentum and making good decisions toward the JL film. The confirmed live-action film slate for DC/WB is "SUPERMAN/BATMAN" July 17th,2015, "FLASH" in 2016 and "JUSTICE LEAGUE" in 2017. This was all said at Comic-Con this summer which means we'll have the Superman,Affleck's Batman and The Flash established by the time JL rolls around with Wonder Woman and the new GL to be introduced

1. Bale was a great Bruce Wayne and an average Batman.
2. Affleck can now actually act, and by act I don't mean "playing Ben Affleck".
3. Man of Steel was pretty average.

Here comes the hate...

What was he good in? I watched Argo and he seemed the same as he is in every film, playing himself. When I see him in anything I see Ben Affleck, I don't see the character.

No not that odd, thats good odd

The movie just kinda felt dumb and silly
I dunno I really like the original Batman, sure it's a little cheesy now but you got to remember it was made in the 80s lol

Nolan's NOT in the driver's seat this time folks!! He's not directing, writing or even a producer on this Superman/Batman film. Which is also all the better for having Affleck on board, you know.....the two-time Oscar winning actor, writer, director
