A majority of people these days prefer action (lots of flashy stuff) over thinking (zoning/whatever that requires patience). Especially spectators/Casual.

I don't like zoning when it's not flashy or active (bad exemple but in marvel there's a fucklot of shit going on when a char zones, with the assists and the various zoning attacks.)

I hate 50/50s that lead to another 50/50 too through.
i hate zoning because its boring, plain and simple and i play games for fun theres nothing fun about walk duck walk duck while your opponent gunshot gunshots or rocket rocket batarang batarang etc its repetitive and slow. there are instances when zoning can be interesting to wacth but 9 times out f 10 its boring

Black Adam destroys sinestro. Regardless the style of zoning is really boring because of the pacing of the game. Its not a matter of my characters losing to sinestro or not. The game is still slow.
It's been 3 months since I lost a black Adam series

Sinestro loses to your other 3-4 characters not Adam

Dave is such a cool dude. Good stuff Dave. I can not get on tym and not hear or see a thread crying about the game. Injustice is very well made and well thought out. NRS has done the impossible with combining competitive and casual. I don't say this because I lived in the city where there homebase is. I say because the step up from Injustice to mk9 is nuts...they were listening to us.

Coming from the mind of an aspiring game designer... I can only hope they allow MK10 to naturally progress and nerf nothing but characters with absolutely broken mechanics, or characters who simply cannot be beaten (according to tournament results) because they're too powerful.
That's why the word "aspiring" will most likely remain in your title. Please familiarize yourself with the following principles and maybe your future assessments will actually have some merit (being a game designer involves a lot of reading and education about a diverse set of scientific fields paired with creative theory and logic). The following deal with game theory in a broader sense than video games obviously but can be regarded as the fundamentals of the discipline. They are however especially valuable in this discussion here because we talk about motivation and player behavior:
  • Behavioral Game Theory: Experiments in Strategic Interaction
  • Games and Decisions: Introduction and Critical Survey
  • Evolutionary Game Theory, Natural Selection, and Darwinian Dynamics

not all suggestion made on this forum are bad. What you're talking about PL isn't something they needs to be debated it should be in the game since walking in Injustice is the prefer way to move safely without getting destroyed.

The reason zoning is so powerful in this game is cause you have to dash to get around you can't walk and block cause walking doesn't move you anywhere really unless you are black adam lol

Well Raven's walkspeed isn't bad her forward dash is terrible though. Good thing I have F222 and soul crush.

Honestly I love zoning in fighting games when its fun to watch.

O.Sagat from ST for example.

I also love rushdown

N.Vega from ST for example.

And I love the inbetween types like N.Ryu from ST

The game still keeps a fast pace. Its very boring to watch Sinestro just df1 meter burn from across the screen and you can't do anything.

Or watch Black Adam do EVERYTHING and its 100% safe on block and then you get in he back dashed and throws an interactable at you.

95% of all projectiles in this game that cannot be crouched (i.e., Black Adam's lightning strike, Deathstroke's low gunshots and machine gun, Martian Manhunter's telekinetic strike, Sinestro's fear blast at certain ranges, etc.) are either very slow or punishable on block.

Deathstroke's low gunshots are -25 on block. Name me one character in a 2D fighting game whose projectile has such terrible recovery frames.

The top tier characters of this game are very good because of their versatility, not zoning. You should know better than anybody else because Batman can apply pressure, zone, play defense and footsies, etc.

Yea but black adam shuts down like everyone in the game its not fun. He all safe wake up attacks. Safe lightning strike which is a low he can use as a mixup full screen with dive kick lol. I am not going to sit here and justify Black Adam as he is obviously one of the best, if not the best, character in the game. The best characters in fighting games always have BS.

But his effectiveness has nothing to do with zoning. His mobility is the issue. Some characters move like snails, yet he maneuvers around the screen like ST Claw, and only a handful of characters can limit him, usually the ones with excellent aerial control (i.e., Cyborg and Zod).

They don't want balance because they like the idea of top tier characters that they can generally have an easier time playing.


It's almost stupid, I've even picked up BA/Supes for pocket annoyances. What's stopping me from maining? The fact that have character loyalty to the others.


Otherwise? Pfft supes it is.

I haven't seen anything to suggest people don't want a balanced fighting game. I've seen a lot, though, to suggest nobody quite knows how to go about it. Lot of noise, not a lot of signal yet still. It's a problem.

It's pretty simple. Nerf the amazing, buff the bad. Nobody wants to see their character get nerfed, even if it means balance.



People are still complaining about BA's safe wakeup attacks when everything else in the game is safe to?
Learn to wiff punish. That's what Injustice is all about.

BA is unwinnable for a ton of characters. His jumps and dashes shut down attacks from majority of the cast.


If you have something that can be abused in this game you will win.

It's pretty simple. Nerf the amazing, buff the bad. Nobody wants to see their character get nerfed, even if it means balance.
It's not that cut and dry. This game has a lot of characters - at least eight, by my reckoning - who do very well in most of their matches, but have a handful where they get decimated. You can't just straight buff them, or straight nerf the characters they lose to without putting things even further off-kilter. Buffing Shazam is easy, he's trash. Fixing Lex or Hawkgirl? A lot harder.
