I've heard about neutral over and over since I started trying to play at high levels in fighting games but have yet to see any resource that explains it in comprehensive way.
The way I understand neutral is it is any situation in the game where neither player has advantage like at the beginning of the match.
In that sense I get it. No one has pushed a button yet so no one is plus or minus. And I know it has a lot to do with knowing where you need to be to reach your opponent without them being able to reach you ( footsies) . But there is so much more to it than that and all the videos I have ever seen seem to have rambling explanations. Sonic fox did an hour long video about it on YouTube and I got some of it but he can be hard to understand at times just due to the way he speaks and he does tend to go off on tangents> probably because he is a genius and understands these concepts at such a high level.
