It is better this way
There are 100 variations in this game and they've been flipped around a lot as the patches dropped.
BUT this isn't about tier position. I want to know which variation had his/her playstyle altered the most throughout the game. Whether or not the changes made them go up or down the tier list is irrelevant in this discussion, who do you think changed the most.
In my opinion it's Cryomancer Sub-Zero. At first he was reliant on his 50/50 and F12 string to mount his offense but was tricky because the F42 grab string wasn't cancelable yet, so all of Sub-Zero's damaging combos left him negative. Then once we could cancel the string into hammer giving him advantage at the end of his combos he could now capitalize on his damage. Cryomancer was then based around punishing, whiff punishing, staggering with the F122 string, and using the high risk/high reward 50/50 when necessary. But mostly it was based around capitalizing on an opponent's mistakes rather than going ham because of the issues Sub-Zero had in a klone-less neutral. Then the patch hit and he was given the command grab but at the cost of no longer being able to stagger parts of the F122 string, or whiff punish with any damage using the F42 grab string due to it being removed so Sub-Zero could have the command grab and tick throws, but now his pokes aren't butt anymore. So now the idea of whiff punishing is gone, along with a damage nerf, but the command grab gives him more offensive tools to make up for it, especially B3 tick being really strong. He's definitely a bit more rushdown based with some of the tools that encouraged baiting and punishing being removed.
So what do you think?
