So even after pretty much only playing shao since release i’m still in a bit of a variation crisis.

Do you guys feel shao kahn needs to use the ground shatter for pressure or 50/50s (F2 into OH or low shatter)?

Or can he manage with just up hammer?

My opinion is no. Both F24 and ground shatter are punishable, even on meterburn, ground shatter also has a 10 frame gap if meterburned. I found up hammer to be more useful, it has a bigger gap but the second hit can not be interrupted. It will come down no matter what. Overall they're both pretty bad lol.

Also I use f21 more often, it is safe and can be staggered.

Just go with Risen emperor cause it has annihilation. That's about it. Up hammer pressure is 100% fake and will get you killed, ground shatter is bleh and its restand in combo literally is negative enough for you to get full combo punished.
