The Fate of Sonya Blade's Partner with Score PN

Remember back in the day when fighting games didn't have much of a story? Well, they still don't but the crew at NRS has at least taken steps to provide some great tales for the players to enjoy before they hit multiplayer. There was a time when their games weren't as in-depth, and one of the vague story points they threw together was Sonya's partner and her quest for revenge against Kano.

The only information we ever really got was that Kano did something bad against Sonya's partner, and she was mad about it. Things were changed in the new timeline to say that Jax was her partner and she had other reasons to have a vendetta against the Australian cyborg. So who the hell was Sonya's original partner and what was his deal? Score PN has got the best answer we'll probably get.

In the 1994 Malibu MK comics, we see Sonya's partner Lance, who is just white Jax with better metal arms. This Khrome/Jax hybrid ended up competing in the Mortal Kombat tournament, but didn't make it out alive. If you didn't piece together what that means, check out this short video down below. This isn't exactly 'canon' but it's the best answer we will get.

If you liked the video, go check out Score PN on Twitter to see when his next MK video is going up. If you liked Lance better then Jax, let us know! If you have the correct opinion and don't get why Lance is a thing, let us know too!

It's not canon so it doesn't really matter that much. Also the fact that only one of his arms was bionic and with powers doesn't make him any more powerful then Jax, at least Jax had given benefits for both of his arms.

BTW, NRS Games story mode are awesome. Sure, they are not Shakespeare stuff, but they are still really great and provide really rich lore, both in MK and even IJ. Hell, even back the day, MK games already showed more story then any other fighting game series, and it's even more true nowadays.

The Mortal Kombat lore is so messy and needs to be redone. They shouldn't have killed off so many characters in mk9 just to have them come back as zombies. They should've instead used mk9 to establish key characters so that mkx's story could've fleshed out their stories better. Doing a time skip, plus adding new characters and offspring, on top of this zombie mess, makes everything way too unfocused.
