I don't think you are using it in the right situations.
We at least know HOW to get the OS clone. We should test things ourselves for a bit before we start throwing out random assumptions (i've done it to i know).
    Let it brew for awhile...

The jump kick has to be deep, really deep, like your foot is almost touching the floor deep.

    lols fair enough
I can't even execute it correctly as of yet
I've only been really using it on whiff to cover myself against non-scorpion characters lol
Ate the spear into vortex so much for doing it against scorp lol
Hey Rob, how fast do you input the clone?
I almost piano my thumb across 3,1 after i hit d,b. Is that too quickly, cuz I find I keep doing the ice puddle as I land.
I can probably just do 4,1 but 3,1 feels quicker on pad.

I will tell you this. Once you get the timing... you won't miss it very often. The first thing I did was to simply get the JiK low enough to see that I had the input for clone and it wouldn't come out.
Then i'd actually start to whiff the JiK. In any case. It is just a matter of practice. :)

Exactly, use 4. The negative edge window is so big in this game I wouldnt ever chance using 3 and risk getting an ice puddle.
To anwser your question, yes you do it fast. Pretty much as soon as you hit the 4 for the kick your doing it. As long as the jump kick is deep enough it will work.

Thanks for the quick responses guys
Time to head back to the lab and practice more.

All you have to do is input the clone command (db1) right as your foot is about to hit the ground and you'll get the clone. If you notice you're going to hit them hit go ahead and do it and you'll get a high jump kick clone and you'll bounce off them. If you notice you're going to hit like waist or lower, don't input it, and go into a string.

Alright seem to have got it down.
Lagged as reply cuz haven't been able to play for the last few days.
From what i've done, i've found that:
The speed you input is insanely fast. Too slow, and the clone will come out no matter what. I try to input it so fast that my thumb hurts after. Using negative edge also works, where you input d+4, b+1.
    On Whiff:
    - It's easier to make the clone come out if you do a not so deep jump kick
(I usually aim for around the thigh area so because of delayed reactions, it hits around the shin to ensure the clone still comes out. If you aim for like the toe and it whiffs, the clone doesn't come out. [Might just be my fail timing])
    - But if you double up on the 1 input (i.e. do 4, d,b, 1,1. The clone will come out)
    On Hit/Block:
    - As long as the jump kick is super super deep and the timing is right, the clone will not come out
    - But like on whiff, if you double up on the 1 input, the clone will come out and you will bounce back
    - On torso jump kicks, the clone will still come out :D (needs to be a ranged jump kick though)

Damn tricky stuff, just started practicing today and the timing is hella tricky. I also cant help but be curious if there are other characters that can do this, might try something similar with Raiden once I get the Sub Zero timing down.
