Standard strings into Ice Ball (hits HIGH):

1,2 (HIGH, 8 Startup, short range but fastest)
Back+1,4 (HIGH, 14 Startup, slightly longer reach, main string)
2,1 (HIGH, 8 Startup, fast but stubby)
Back+2 (MID, 14 Startup, Knocks Up but Heavy Scaling)
3 (High, 13 Startup, Better range than 1 or 2)
Back+3,2 (LOW, 13 Startup)

Here are my Thin Ice combos. Those are the only useful ones he doesnt have anything flashy. I didn't touch the other loadout because it's just sad.

WHY IS SUB SO BORING DUDE THIS THREAD AINT EVEN FUN. USED TO HAVE FUN DOING THIS FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKK.

Been in the lab for an hour or so...found the following corner combo while using the Rising Ice ability:

JIP, 2, 1, Rising Ice(EX), 1, 2, ice ball, 1, 2, 4 does about 28% damage and 38% if you get the KB

Hope this helps...

Rising Ice isn't in any of the competitive variations though.

Tomorrow I'll be labbing corner creeping ice and rising ice combos anyway. I really like those moves and want to be prepared when the rules eventually change. Also they can be useful for P E towers.

So far it's looking like my ideal variation would be Creeping Ice, Air Axe and I'm undecided about the last move. Will use those moves in PVE towers all the time.

You can combo after slide in the corner. It’s easier or harder depending on the string you use. B32 seems to work the best.

Midscreen and Ckrner Vombos have been added for the Thin Ice variation.

Let me know if you have routes that are more optimal.

Working on Dead in the Water variation right now.

- Great for punishing crouching opponents

Other KBs that you can cash in on DMG
  • D2 (High Punishing KB), IceBall, FJ2, B143xxSlide/Cold Shoulder
  • F24 (Hits Overhead, Punishing KB for 309.44 DMG Total. But it has 19 Startup & is -19 on Block, hence its high risk high reward)
Also, you can engage with a FJ2 before all STARTERS into Ice Ball for added DMG, but realistically the opponent will usually see you coming.

How are you all getting his corner combs with 2, 2, 21 slide. I can barley get the first S2

Sub Zero's damage is significantly higher with rising ice alone.

12xxIceBall, B32xxRising Ice, B2, B143xxSlide is 300 damage.

Are talking in the corner? When they've fallen to Sub-Zero's midsection.

Midscreen after rising ice you can input B2 almost immediately.
Thanks I’ll test it and yea I was talking about the corner. And im going to wait until I get the feel for his combos before I use rising ice. Hopefully they change their tournament rules and just let us use the moves we want.

When you freeze someone in the corner can’t you do a NJP since it no longer pops up instead of walking back and jumping in? Sorry if there is tech I haven’t seen yet.

There’s got to be better options... I’ve practiced the S2 forever and it’s just inconsistent as fuck. Obviously practice helps but the execution for that just seems way too unreasonable.

It's quite difficult, but there isnt a better alternative.

2nd best option after freeze would be to just do J4 2, 2, 21xxSlide OR just do a B143XXSlide

The alt corner combo “starter xx ice ball, ji2, b32 xx slide, 2, 2, 21 xx slide” is easier than the axes imo. But both have little quirks that make them consistent.
