Sub Forum Management - Report out of place threads.

I definitely want to organize the set up itself more than it is, but the point of this thread is to finish weeding out the straggler threads. I moved something like 260 threads using the search and started picking through on my own, but it got very annoying. Probably about as annoying as hunting through a forum with 750 threads to see if your topic has been posted when the search function isn't good enough. Eventually the main forum should be a bunch of subforums and stickies.

Wow, why don't we just shut down the site then?

The forum can be organized however we want. Making individual character forums is a good idea.
We're all for the idea. It works great. No one is disagreeing with that.

Organizes every character thread perfectly so everyone can just learn about their mains. I think the main issue everyone has is the fact it leaves the UMK3 board cluttered. Either do it for every thread so it's a basic layout, or organize it so it's not so bulky.

That's all people are trying to get across...I think.

No, it wasn't, but that doesn't matter. It's just like how people didn't understand when we changed the forum over the vBulletin, that it wasn't going to stay the way it was. They thought it was going to just look like the default. I understand there is clutter, I want to sift through the threads and figure out what types of sub forums to make, since there are so many threads in this forum. Order of operations people. 3 pages in this thread and only one person has posted a link to anything that might need to be moved.

So does this mean my idea has a certain merit? Perhaps a character forum in itself that's divided up by character and/or game?

Your idea is great man, I think a lot of people felt the UMK3 Threads were cluttered, but also, I welcome the idea of character sub threads with open arms man.

It's VERY easy to find a discussion on characters, and open new ones regarding specific characters.

It looks great, it's easy to find specific threads, and the only annoyance we can find is the fact we have to scroll down a few extra times. I think that after a small amount of time, it will be much more pleasing to the eye.

i really don't see anything wrong with anything.. i love the sub character threads.. and i would def love to see some basic/advanced techniques with video tutorials
(which i would more then happy be willing to make).. I.E.

Basic fighting : Kara jabs, run jabs, Anti air, push back, corner push backs.

Advanced : Corner traps, infinities, Juggles, *how to escape corner traps*

And the arcade stick idea would be great! cus i reallllly need to learn it.

It was always part of the plan, that's why I asked people what other sub forums they wanted to see and to post links to threads that need to be move. Once I have an idea of all the possible sub forums everything can be organized even more. Dreemer and I talked about the initial clutter organization would cause in a text message when he saw the post I made about it on here originally.

I tried putting all the character threads into a sub forum but it didn't work the way I thought it would. I'll try and figure this out with Dreemer.

Alright. I started from the end of the forum and began working my way towards the front, pulling out stuff into a couple categories for new subforums, Advanced Play and Basics.
If anyone wants to pick up where I left off, I started at page 25, and worked my way up to this thread:

UMK3 Method of Choice
by Unda Fiya (Page 21 last time I checked.)

Everything newer than that needs examined.

Advanced Play Topics:

And I really think any thread were you've just had to put in the
exact text from the character guides should just be deleted, such as:

Thank you Hayron, this is exactly what I was looking for. If we can sort down enough stuff we can break down this forum into a bunch of subs making it a lot easier for people to find information. I'll start going through stuff when I get home from class.

I moved all those threads you mentioned Hayron. I also sorted them a little bit differently, for example I put the blockable frames thread in basics because knowing when someone can and cannot be hit should be considered a basic topic. There probably will be threads that go back and forth but as long as the topics are kept seperated it'll be fine. Also relaunching I put with advanced topics because this requires applying very precise timing along with the basic idea of knowing when someone can and cannot block.

Edit:

I also found a setting under the vBulletin options to display how many sections deep a .php link will be. It was set to 2 so that is why it was showing the character sub forums. I don't think this will screw anything up, but if anything looks funky anywhere let us know. The UMK3 forum should look a lot better now. Eventually the main section will be stickies and misc posts I guess. The main forum thread is now down to 10 pages, most of which are threads about multiple but specific characters, other misc stuff I haven't sorted through, XBL specific stuff that isn't so much match making, and a lot of threads players made just talking about competition or player philosphy almost.

I really like the new layout, Shock. Glad to have the organization.

As a mid-skill-level player, I'm always digging for material relevant to my current needs and searching the old way was prohibitive.

Thanks, I still am going to sift through the threads some more and break the whole forum down into sub sections with the stickies as they are I think. I need to think of a sub forum title for all the posts that talk about gameplay/player skill, but nothing specific. I think I might simply call it "Style and Philosophy"
