Something, I never understood, why are Quarter Backs squishy?

Why is it that every other NFL player can take a tackle, and get up just fine, but every time a QB does, they get hurt. Do QBs wear less padding or something? Never understood why every other player gets roughed up for 60min but a QB just dies at the slightest tackle.

Yea they do actually wear less padding. They also arent really groomed to take hits like that on the norm like most players have been for years. Running backs usually dont last more than 10 years because they get hit on every play while a good QB can last over 15 years.

It's also with running backs and receivers are ready to take a hit whenever they touch the ball ,but a lot of the time a QB is hit while trying to make a throw. They aren't ready to take the hit a lot of the time is what I'm getting at.

Along with what Smarrgasm said, when you watch a qb they do there drop back and plant there feet like statues (the good ones do at least) they aren't really in a good position to get hit. RBs and WRs brace for impact where as qbs straight up get blindsided a lot.

In High School football, we had one extremely strict rule during practice "don't tackle the quarterback during practice". We could hit the living f* out of anyone else during practice sets, but QB you could only sort of "hug"- the reason behind it was they were hard to replace. Guess it just adds up over the year.

And yeah, they also don't wear as many pads. The shoulder pads the wear are extremely small, and usually they don't protect any part of the rib cage. In fact, in general you'd be amazed how many NFL players forego padding they're supposed to wear... NFL players actually don't protect the family jewels for whatever insane reason:

Further, you have to "get used to" getting hit.

Other positions are constantly getting hit. Whereas quarterbacks (and kickers also) are not.

Think of it like boxing. A boxer steps in the ring, and can get hit 100 times over 12 rounds and not go down. Whereas someone who isn't a boxer, gets floored by the first punch.
