Smoke lags the game in his advantage???? (DS)

somehow when smoke appears on screen when fighting my connection seems to get laggy. quite sure smoke's smoke is the issue.
but when im fighting smoke i always get killed cuz of weird "lag pop ups" when he uses his teleport punchoutofgroundninjashizzle stuff (sometimes with the anoying sound director pissing me off more)

anyone else got this problem, if so how do u solve it .... if u cant hit him u cant beat him he can use the lag as an advantage cuz he can time his stupid teleport punchoutofgroundninjashizzle when u do the quickest moves ever, spoiles the fun of the game imo
anyone got a nice way to beat lagsmokeninja's?
