As pool play starts this evening in Chicago and we all take time deciding who are the favorites to make it out of pool, I felt it was important to remind you that Competition Director of Combo Breaker, Max Wasserman, has made the tournament where 3 players make it out of pools.

How do they do this, you might ask.

Simple - Eliminate the Loser's Finals game.

The two players in the Winners Final have an automatic ticket in, as one would definitely go to the Losers Final.

Losers Final is not played, instead a top 32 bracket becomes a top 48 bracket and all of the competitors in Losers Final of their respective pool will go on to play other pools' Losers Finals placers.

As an example:
If Dragon vs Coach Steve is Winners Final of their pool and Punk has advanced to Losers final. If Dragon wins and sends Coach Steve to losers, instead of Coach and Punk playing their match, they will play another pools Losers Finals players.

The reasoning behind this is to avoid rematches as statistics show in 2016, 60 of 72 pools played at Combo Breaker had Losers Finals rematches. The elimination of those rematch games give viewers the chance to experience more unique games and for the players to not have to play the same person twice in such a decisive match.

So just remember, before tallying up who you expect to make it out of their bracket, there will be 3 opposed to the conventional 2.
