Damn this thread had juice potential but OP had to go and ruin it by admitting he was wrong smh. What's a guy gotta do to get some juice around here

Only thing that matters is results, no one cares about what-ifs, no one cares about Billy Bedroom preaching he's the best because he held his own in online casuals and no one cares about I don't even play this game OSes into MB I would've mopped you in my prime

Fragile top player egos are hilarious.

Have to shit on any player who beats them even though everyone knows they're out of practice.

I think referring to it as an Ego problem is a bit one sided to be honest. You may say it's Top Player Ego that would keep them from taking a loss against someone in a game they haven't practiced or played in a year or more. But you could also make the argument that looking to challenge someone in a game they don't & haven't played or practiced for an extended time, just to see where your skills would "stack up" then popping off (some not all) is just as much of an Ego issue.

Just a thought.

When I used to play Tekken 6 and SFIV at the tournys (years ago), the best players were the ones who never showed up at the tournys. One of the guys that contributed the most to my learning was on a fking wheelchair, a disabled vet. Obviously, he had no intention of getting on a flight and showing up on the other side of the country for a fking tournament, though he would’ve buried every guy who showed up at the tournys.
This is why the growth of eSports is so important imo. People like this probably will start coming out for 100K paydays and 10K Pot Bonuses. People do not like to talk about money, but it makes the world go around. The moar money the moar players. Good players.

PROs:

So, lets be clear, a group of dudes who get together, form their own pathetic li’l circle and call themselves “pros” really don’t get to decide if a game lives or dies and who’s a fking “NECRO” or not. Make your stupid buck , talk yourself up for petty confidence and move on li’l dudes.
I don't disagree with you on the point that there are a lot of horrible attitudes in the Professional Scene.
Actually, EVERY professional scene has its own horrible attitudes; people who look down on amateurs for example.
Huge egos happen, it has nothing to do with being a PRO, so don't mix them together.
Shitty people are just shitty people and putting them in the same box as a general scene is wrong.

Even if the majority of a pro scene is like that, sadly. In my field, it can get crazy pretty fast: people are judgemental in design because it's a very subjective field, with its own objective realities but guess what, being objective is the last thing people do.
Like when you protect your buddy by saying that being called a Necro and acting like "hey I don't even play this anymore" is just plain foul. You are not objective but it's your subjective right to call out people on that

And I fully agree.

But let's clear out a few things just to be sure.

1. PROfessional just means it's a person's profession. Their job. They get paid. I understand that it's wrongfully become the word to use when someone is "good" at something but that's not it. There are a lot of industry professionals in art, programming or heck even sports who veritably suck at most major aspects of their trade yet they are in the line of work - the profession - because they are very skilled at one single aspect of it. They're called a specialist.

2. Professions require skill. Skill requires expertise. Expertise requires effort. Effort means that while you go and make cash in your dayjob, these guys are working at their expertise, to hone their skill, so that they can improve at their professions.
Effort also means that while you go and relax after your dayjob, these guys are still working at their expertise, to hone their skill, so that they can FURTHER improve at their professions.
Hell, in my neck of the wood in the world of design there are people who, while you eat, sleep, or have sex, are still working at their expertise, to hone that skill, because this profession has so much competition that you just cannot afford to not be honing.

3. Saying they are not the cream of the crop is wrong. They are the professional scene and while there may be some amateurs who have put in the effort, or even have talent, and while those people do measure up, it's objective value vs face value and proof always wins.

Keep classy, people.

I would think when these people still playing ask the old players games, then when old players agree they pop off hard or upload it to YouTube that happened in my case a bigger ego problem

Agree that the behavior of certain members of this current wave of players you mention is very questionable. Even personally have told some of them, I don't think that is the best way to get known. Guy we are refering to has serious attitude problems.

However, I think nobody forces the "pros" to take the challenge today. Not talking about you now, but some egos are so huge that they believe they are so above in skill that even without practice they can beat everybody including people that play on a daily basis at high level.

The thing is, these current players play the game for what it is, for fun, and as a natural thing, with practice comes improvement. Same practice that gave tournament players skills in the past is giving skill to the ones that still play the game. Tournament players decided to drop mkx for a new game where the money was, and that's ok, but you can't have everything. If you close a chapter, you close it. Titles and money one could have earned in mkx don't expire, skill does if you don't work on it. If you don't play, eventually you fall from the top. And "tops would have won in their prime" is just an OS and a sad attempt of asking the past to come and save your ass of today's lack of practice.

Also, this community doesn't like our games to die soon. Support old games they say. However, at the same time I see too many people throwing shade to guys that decided to keep playing mkx and underestimating skills just because they are appearing after tournament season ended. We get it, tournaments are over, nobody is gonna get titles anymore. But that doesn't mean people can't get good and push the boundaries of the game they keep playing.

There is room for everybody. Respect needs to be shown from both parts though.

I feel like this should be more of a talking point here.

I don't disagree

If somebody wants to keep playing they should.

It's the ones that snipe out the old players and take full credit when they do.

It's like an up and coming boxer going out of there way to get a boxing match with Muhammed Ali, winning then popping off and claiming they beat the best in the World.
I guess other players having different views on this, but that's my only problem.

But outside of that I do believe if you wanna take full credit on being one of the best you gotta strike while the kettle is hot.

I get it some people take longer to get it but "Adaption" is a huge key in FGs if you struggle to adapt in time is that not on the player?

For sure it's egos from both sides. One is the people that do that shit above to stroke their own deluded ego and us for taking it as a thing as much.

If they ain't doing that I have nothing bad to say.

But again the word "Pros" pretty sure nobody referred to themselves as pros

So in Short For me
-Still enjoys and plays the game good for you, should not be judged

-Still plays the game but claims they are better than old players after old players moved on and would pop off if win like UnbearableSkills did on Foxy or upload games they get and won with old players straight to you YouTube. That's a true Necro to me.

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
if they are beating f0xy in mkx in 2018, than they ARE better than foxy in mkx - in 2018

if that same person did it yesterday but is saying they did it at the height of the scene thats an outright lie and you can call them out on that shit. But it doesn't sound like thats what happening

if you move on to where the money is, you don't get to claim to be the best forever, or the best of 2018, your spot is open

for a scene that constantly tells people to stick with the game they like, you guys sure are trying to invalidate that decision lol

If you're going to reply to me then directly reply to me please.

As I said nothing wrong with people still playing the game, yeah that's technically true you are better than him at that time, but why where you not better than him when the game was in its peak state?

you think it's okay to keep asking an old player to get on to play then when you do to be nice they upload it to YouTube and then move on to another old player?

Since your first part was a reply to my post I'm just going to assume the rest is.

No where did I say do not stick to the game, quote me exactly where I said that

Make your stupid buck. Nobody's stating MKX has more money at the moment. Its just a stinking shame that a game gets deserted on the financial end when a completely different game gets released by the same developer. It really is the equivalent of no money getting pumped into Tekken 7 because Soul Calibur 6 was released by Namco! Its a conspiracy almost. In fact, if a major was announced for MKX with a 100,000 dollars on the line, i'd bet that more players would sign up for that than Inj 2.

You were grinding Kenshi and every matchup out there with Kenshi for years. You just didn't lose your fking edge dude, Who do you think you're lying to? I've been involved with different FGs since 2003. Nah, you just don't lose your edge with a character you grind for so long and a revival's pretty damn easy. I'll tell you what, go grind your Kenshi for another 6 months. But, the problem for you is you can go grind your Kenshi again for another 6 months or an year, come back and Ninjakilla will still body you. He went a notch above on the skill ceiling and how freaking adaptive he is. How old is that guy? 13, 14? probably. Guess he couldn't have signed up when he was 10 eh? to prove his worth among you 'pro' dudes. His father may not have been in the mood to get on a flight and escort his kid to some fking tournament somewhere perhaps.

Same goes for all the other FREE pro dudes ( sylverye, mantis, etc etc ) out here. Go grind all you want with your cage or your Kang for another year, come back and still get bodied by the "NECRO" guy. The truth is, somebody's better than you. Stay FREE dudes. LOL
Im not free tho. When i played during the games life i cooked ninjakilla so keep choking on his dick. Ill do the same in mk11. Also, doesnt matter your age, if u cant atleast sign up for tournaments ONLINE thats your fault. Boy u sound dumb as hell being this hard when u arent even the one playing

These aren't the guys who demand respect with every second sentence while being childish though

I get what you're saying entirely but if youre a top player your ego should be solid enough you don't need to shit on randoms, everyone knows youre better.
