I think it's far more likely that just hoping to win the EVO main slot and putting all the money there will end up with zero return. If we throw the tournament ourselves, we know it's going to happen. Then the only question is "How big will the prize pool be" and it really doesn't matter. If the players are there they'll have a good time regardless and it'll be something to remember.I remember. What I'm afraid of is that pig puts in tons of work and there is no return. Dude works too hard and the community is already full of people who think donating to charity is a bad idea.

I'm cool with donating to charity, I just think if you're going to do it, don't do it in the hopes of getting an EVO slot or influencing the Cannons -- do it because it's something you want to do.
One example would be like, Scar is fighting Rhabdomyolysis -- you could donate to a charity that funds rhabdomyolysis research as a way of supporting something close to home. But those charities will be still be open before and after EVO.
