I always feel like people overstate the impact of performance differences. Unless it's really drastic (like Wii to PS3), it's always so minor in practice, that combined with the fact so many games are made to be ported anyway, it's not really that big a deal in practice.

I mean, PS4 was technically more powerful than Xbox One, but it's not like I ever looked at Gears 5 and thought "Man, I'm glad have a PS4 because this looks so much worse".
That's true but certain games do look and/or perform better on depending on what console you're playing it on as hardware can make a drastic difference at times especially when it comes to load times. PlayStation 4 had a higher resolution than the Xbox One & it did make a visual difference.

On PC, you would have seen the differences between Gears 5, as on console it has input lag & FPS issues on Xbox: Not sure if they fixed that yet...
