Nice trip to the afterlife - Nappa general discussion thread

As a start, pretty sure he’s taking point in my team (Vegeta mid, A.Gohan anchor). He seems like hella fun, and plenty of room for creativity.

So far I’ve been messing with assist combos and have come up with these. Apologies if much of this is used/known by others already, I just discovered these in isolation, and wanted to share. Also aware they probably aren’t optimal, I’m learning 3v3 and anime as I go.

Combo 1
Most viable as its 1 bar (2 assists) 5655 dmg and summons a saibaman at the end

Combo 2
Same deal but with expensive dami (7106) and no saibaman

Combo 3
Different assist combo 2 bars (net) and adds install to A.Gohan (6019 dmg)

Ask if notations are needed, it’s getting late now or I’d have added them. :)

Saw someone (probably @TrulyAmiracle, sorry to tag, but would love any input, been super helpful so far :)) mention in the main thread that if you land you regain jump cancels. Added this to the end (with a no mix up quick reset). Can anyone think of a way of landing big dami after the second set of jump cancels?

Omfg! Just found out you can cancel out of the aerial 2H (before it connects) with another 2H then go into other aerial normals.

Edit,You can even do it over and over lol

Nappa is strong as fuck in this game! I saw a restand combo he did where he laned 2 level 1 SUPERS in succession by simply timing a Vegeta assist after the first super hit. FUCKING DAMAGE!

Saw someone (probably @TrulyAmiracle, sorry to tag, but would love any input, been super helpful so far :)) mention in the main thread that if you land you regain jump cancels. Added this to the end (with a no mix up quick reset). Can anyone think of a way of landing big dami after the second set of jump cancels?

I think that's the tech buffer kicking in (too many hits), you could try to vanish then do the j.2H into ender. I haven't messed with Nappa outside of combo challenges so I'm not sure lol.

I do something similar in the second combo above. So much fun. Level1 super, vegeta assist, 5H level3 super. Loving the dami Nappa brings, his corner game just got a lot scarier for me now I know about the cancels...

Kid Buu is ALWAYS the captain! Duh! Vegeta is STRONG to always close the match if Kid Buu don't sweep the team.

So Kid Buu, Nappa, Vegeta.

Nappa's combos are STRONG AS FUCK and simple to pull off. All you need is just ONE HIT CONFIRM, combo, vanish, wall bounce, and the rest is history into a super. So hes good as a mid. Still trying to figure out his neutral tho and when to use his Saibaman thingy

I’m still working on saibaman strats myself. They work raw mostly (when not abused), but people will soon learn to punish that.

I also like using assists for cover. Other than that I sacrifice dami at combo end for saibaman setup.

Working on assist setups at the moment, but definitely gonna see if I can get saibamen out mid combo next. Had a quick go and it seemed tricky. Got some thoughts for next time I try though.

Actually finding it quite hard to leave the lab... Nappa’s definitely got some fun/scary dirt. Will add some more vids soon, working on reset options.

Ok I’ve been working on utilising the dive cancel (FYI you can just hold 2H in the air) and found something good I think. Side switches from corner and safe (I think) resets into corner pressure. 2 bars gross, but builds one (when factoring additional guaranteed chip).

Messing with the timing of 2nd trait and cancel creates multiple mix opportunities.

And given I'm still getting just those basics down for every assist pairing on my team I've decidedly not made an effort to get down 2-assist combos except for practice-swag

In general the way I'm sneaking out Saibamen is anytime I'm offscreen which is actually quite alot given how much airtime is in the game. If my opponent wants to interrupt with a superdash they need to pray I'm not at the bottom of the screen waiting to smack them with a 2h.

Mid combo Saibamen with Vegata assist:

I'm kinda lukewarm on doing that now since it's essentially a 2bar combo for 4.5k dammy. So I'm betting big on getting a lotta value from the cabbage patch kids on that one.

Yeah I know what you mean. I’ve used it a couple of times to escape corner, but you’re right I’ve often used an assist to get going. I’m out at the moment, but I’m going to work on optimising a less resource intensive version when I get back.

Yeah I love that, ending with 2H cancelled into saibaman pretty much allows you to plant 2 once they respect the 2H as well.

Re leaving swag until later – I go straight for full swag, and learn the constituent basic parts along the way anyways, but each their own :)

Been working on less resource intensive corner resets and put these together. Full lifebar shmix where Vegeta is used to cover opening and Piccolo can have been used recently:
Again, not sure how legit the whole thing is... but looks cool :)

So is it coimcidence that alot of others playing Nappa bring Piccolo or is this a legit good pairing?
He seems like a legit good match to me because his assist provides great oki and Nappa’s already a threat there, and the orb shuts down attempts to interrupt his setups. Offers great combo extension in the corner too. Just my initial impressions.

Ok, found a bit more corner swag/tech/setups using saibamen summoned mid combo:

Big dami combo:
1 bar, vegeta assist 6262 dmg. L Saibaman connects with dp and grab after lvl 1 super

Setup combo:
0 bar, vegeta + beam assist 5547 dmg. L Saibaman connects w dp an grab afterbeam assist > 5H, which is cancelled into M Saibaman before continuing into high/low setup

They both have knockdown option mind games, but the second one could be scary af on oki, as the Saibaman pins them down and puts a low* in with your airborne options.

I’m so close to a 3 saibaman (1 for oki) corner combo I can taste it.... potentially still meterless.

Gotta sleep, but getting close to triple saiba. Decided to call it a day when the second saibaman grab missed :( uploading first go as wip in case anyone feels like giving it a go. Still got a few more avenues to explore too.
