Movie Spies Tier List

It has been a while since if watched a good Spy move, and ever since Jason Bourne i've been wondering what could have really impress me as of such, recently have watched two of the most recent spy movies out there, and decided to update my list, so here it goes.

1. Jason Bourne (Bourne ID)
While being a memory damaged character, Bourne made James Bond look like a fucking child when he debuted, absolutely top notch fighter able to fight even with a pen, expert tracker and an unreal marksman, Bourne is today one of the best spy characters out there in any movie, his movies always deliver, even the current one which doesn't meet the mark of the original trilogy but still showed to be damn amazing.

What sets Bourne above from the rest is the fact that he is an independent agent, and even so he is able to be on a league of his own even against langley's agents themselves, he always thinks steps ahead of his competition or people he somewhat doesn't trust. Bourne can simply disappear ogf the face of the earth move from country to country undetected despite the whole traffic cameras and resources, enter langley when he sees fit and cause a huge riot just to distract people into things while he puts his plans ahead, Bourne is pretty much the invisible man. Bourne is also fluent more languages that any spy has shown to be fluent on.
Portrayed by: Matt Damon

2. Lorraine Broughton (Atomic Blonde)
Being a recent movie, the spy on this one jumped on my tier list for several reasons, she is a triple agent, working for te KGB, MI6 and CIA, Lorraine can put up a good fight and take blows some men wouldn't be able to take as much, but she knows her physical body doesn't makes her a match for people stronger than her, so for that matter she uses her environment to her own advantage, she hit people with freezer doors, portable ovens, dismantle a sniper rifle to use as a melee weapon.

But her greatest skill is Intel, Lorraine has a nasty habit of wearing a wire whenever she is on a mission, so she can then pick parts of conversations to form a false intel to feed other organizations and manipulate things into her own liking, she also likes to bath under a bathtub full of ice cubes, so she can resists longer to colder temperatures, in the end of the movie this makes her survive on a frozen berlin lake and able to pick a gun hidden on a champagne ice bucket.

Lorraine is also very resourceful, she has a staff of her own, a clock maker able to hide intel into it, fixer, who can create fake IDs its also a cleaner and can pay people up to stage things in a lager scale.
Portrayed by: Charlize Teron

3. Alice Racine (Unlocked)
A Spy Agent that was taking a desk job on pakistan after a mission gone wrong, she is an MI6 agent who was mostly recruiting agents on the field and gaining intel to warn the MI6 about possible attacks in england, at least that was the bad guys though she was.
Before that Alice was also a damn good fighter, and an interrogator, before being a spy she kicked ass on a teacher and was deemed to be too violent, sadly Alice works under her bosses order mostly, but she is smart enough to trust her own instincts, the Movie Unlocked wasn't that good but still was able to get a feel for the character, one thing she doesn't have among the most common spies is that she still thinks about taking a normal life away from all these problems, she is like everyday people but she is a cold blooded killer when she needs to be.
Portrayed by: Noomi Rapace

4. Evelyn Salt (Salt)
Salt was an american children grew on a facility training in her entire life to be a russian spy, she was then inplanted on the CIA as part of a program where once the agents were activated they would tear the entire U.S upside down, fortunately Salt is the main protagonist and she was against the entire idea since she got a husband and created roots, Salt its the only agent who is able to identify other sleeper cells who trained during her time, her mission is to destroy them all.

Salt is extremely violent, and she is very deceiver its kinda hard to tell what she feels or if she is telling the truth or actually lying, in the movie she was even able to deceive the header of the sleeper cells operations, she has an excellent knowledge of poisons, has great resistance. Salt is also an excellent marksman, she can improvise weapons, demolition knowledge (she can make bombs and she knows how explosion physics work) and sometimes she looks like she is going to war, she can also disguise and pass unnoticed in high level security areas like "the white house".
Portrayed by: Angelina Jolie.

5. Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible)
Ethan Hunt was the golden boy of the MI6 but then after a few years of his career his MI6 division gained a section of its own, the IMF (impossible mission force).
Hunt is a tough bastard, an operative who has trained other agents, good at investigation, fighting all the good stuff a spy should be.

But what makes Hunt really stands out, are the plannings to infiltrate impenetrable facilities, which its a standard in every Mission Impossible move, IMF also has a state of the art technology to make disguises, Hunt is like a chameleon and its one of the favorito parts of the movies, Hunt always plays someone else to trick a bad guy or to get information, one of my favorite scene is in ghost protocol where Hunt portrays a high ranking russian general and then the ID soldiers ask him to confirm his ID, when the results comes out positive he gave them that look (U doubt a high ranking officer? yall going to jail) among his good set of skills he is also a great biker, a scuba-diver, a free climber and an endurance practitioner, he is also insane sometimes, like the time he fried his head with a high tension ecletric cable to fry a bomb implanted on a chip inside his head through his nose.
Portrayed by: Tom Cruise.

6. James Bond (Bond)
The classic top notch spy from the MI6, the gallant, the guy who gets all the girls, who has all the fucking gadjets, drinks a vodka martini, shaken but not stirred.

We have seen a lot of bond and i gotta say one of the things that makes bond so cool are definitely his gadjets, more specifically his cars are always some futuristic shit that its kinda hard to match, the belts watches always have a sort of utility attached to it, the recent movies still shows gadjets around and bond wrecking them as if they were toys, anyway the last bond movies also have shown a bond who in times of struggle and mental breakdown he can still do his job, sadly Bond movies have just been terrible all the way i even slept out during the last one (Spectre) which was hard to follow, super boring.
Portrayed by: Daniel Craig (Currently)

Honorable mentions
Galahand (Kingsman)
Hannah (hannah)

I haven't watched: The agent from U.N.C.L.E.
I don't think abducted should it into this, same as RED or those comedic spies.

Anyway if you haven't watched any of those moves, i suggest you to go and watch it, specially if you enjoy spy characters.

Bond is number 1.
Not even an argument, it's a fact.
If i had to categorize in skills he is definitely the best gadjet master, reason why i don't bring Abducted, and all other gadjet spy movies in this tier, i think bond its the first of its kind and the better one at it, but still i don't think he is the better spy anymore, hardly.

Even Ethan Hunt is somewhat better than bonde IMO, shit forgot Hunt, but already updated.

Bourne is pretty much everyone except bond because he doesn't use gadjets, and men need to step their game up because female spies are killing it.

Mr. Righteous
Brosman was a much better 007 than Daniel Craig IMO, even if he was an american and not british.
INDEED! He just had a ......well lets keep it ALL THE WAY LIVE! He's WAAAAAY better looking than that other muthafucka, ill tell you THAT much! But he also had so much more personality that gave the "charm" that James Bond always garnered. And those movie characters were ICONIC!

James Bond nerd is here.

Also this happens to be one of my favourite sub-genres of action films so I'll list a few good ones:
Mallory Kane - Haywire
Brian Mills - Taken
John Mason - The Rock
Sam - Ronin (One of my Mom's favourites)
Xander Cage - xXx
Peter Devereau - The November Man
Austin Powers (Of course)

There's a lot of good spy films from the 60s and there's a lot of indie Russ Meyer inspired style spy films too.

It depends on which Bond though as each Bond had their own style:

The best Bond when it actually came to being a spy is Pierce Brosnan as he has the best skillset, arguably the best fighter & the P99 (Which he gets in Tomorrow Never Dies) is far better than the PPK. Bond killed Alec Travelyan and Renard who're both considered to be Bond's equal. Brosnan got teamed up with two agents who're considered his equal though with Mei Lin and Jynx Johnson. Brosnan also has the best cars and the best gadgets like the watch. He's killed the most people too like an average of 22 people each movie.

Connery killed Red Grant & Oddjob and caused the deaths of criminal masterminds like Auric Goldfinger, Dr. Julius No & presumably Ernest Stravro Blofield. He's a good fighter (Judo & Karate). Connery relies way too much gadgets.

Moore isn't that great of a fighter even though he did defeat a karate school in The Man With The Golden Gun (with assistance) but defeated villains who're considered equal or above his abilities (Francisco Scaramenga, Jaws (not dead), Max Zorin) and killed Hugo Drax and Karl Stromberg whom are criminal masterminds. Moore was really good with gadgets but didn't abuse them like Connery does. He's the most athletic Bond when you look at the huge ski chases he's had even.

Lezenby is a good Bond but he doesn't have any noticeable accomplishments besides being the most charming and Dalton who's the most ruthless Bond and the closest to the original character in the books.

Daniel Craig's Bond, the parkour and the fight scenes are 100% nonsense. He doesn't have many accomplishments either.

Brosman was a much better 007 than Daniel Craig IMO, even if he was an american and not british.
He's Irish not American, no American has played James Bond since the late 1950s by Barry Nelson for a television movie of Casino Royale. The closest American since was Batman's Adam West who declined the role because he thought Bond should be played by someone who is actually British.

Golden Eye Bond IS THEE BEST!

Pierce Brosman had my gates FLOODING :DOGE
You sound like my mother, she loves Brosnan the most and HATES Daniel Craig. GoldenEye happens to be her favourite Bond film too.

On her majesty's secret service was the best bond movie, imho at least.
George Lazenby is actually a really good James Bond even though even though Saltzman & Broccoli tried to make him a Sean Connery clone.
