Mortal Kombat takes down 'Deadpool 2' and 'Logan' as most viewed red band trailer ever

According to Deadline's Anthony D'Alessandro reported Thursday that Mortal Kombat is now the most viewed red band trailer of all-time after racking up 116 million views in its first week. The action fantasy remake bested previous records held by Deadpool 2 and Logan.

That escalated quickly, I guess that’s a big win for the MK lovers

Is MK about to make boatloads of cash? I can only hope so. It's a franchise that could actually produce several films if they just manage to not fuck up this one.

It’s still crazy that no one at NRS is even addressing the film. Not even 16 Bit, who you’d think would be a no-brainer as far as hyping it up, has really said a word.

Like... what’s going on over there?

In Realm Kast's latest episode, they talked to Garret Warren the director of Mortal Kombat X: Generations (Legacy Season 3) and he had to keep silent about almost everything even though the project has been finished and locked away at WB. It's unknown as to whether the project will even get released as WB and NRS couldn't decide on how to market it and ownership issues, plus it's now a good 5 years past being relevant, yet Garret couldn't talk about ANYTHING due to the non-disclosure agreement he signed. He couldn't deny or confirm much in the way of casting, couldn't talk about the plot or really go into detail about why it's not been released. And that's from a project that whilst completed has effectively been cancelled.

For a pending release as high profile as the new movie, we have no idea how silent the teams behind the movie and NRS are literally being forced to be in respect of this, especially when a cheap little web series from 5 years ago still can't even be discussed by its director.
