Hello All, its Jay aka BanTheTesters here and when I’m not doing Shao Kahn’s dry cleaning I’m here writing articles to bring a little more MK knowledge in your life with the Mortal Kombat Media Mondays series! Today we are looking at the music side of things with a special treat. One of rapper “Big Sean” albums is today's topic..but wait..who is Big Sean and what does he have to do with the Mortal Kombat Universe? Read Below to Find Out!

Rapper Sean Micheal Leonard Anderson was born on March 1988 in Santa Monica, California but later moved to Detroit Michigan where he was raised by his mother. In 2005 he ran into rapper/producer Kanye West while he was doing a radio interview. Sean rushed over to meet West who was still at the studio so that he could perform a freestyle for him. While West was hesitant to the idea he went ahead and gave the guy a shot. After the freestyle session was over Sean left West his demo tape and two years later he was signed.

To this day we will never know if Kanye actually puts the hoodie on...

Now while some of you know Mr. Sean for his high profile relationship to singer, Teen-Nick star and resident Doughnut licker Ariana Grande, (they broke up earlier this year so yes she is single…maybe you guys can show her how to play MKX with an Arcade Stick…) some of you might know Big Sean for his 2011 Album “Finally Famous”, and here is where things get a little interesting..

To be honest it was hard find a pic where they weren't making out...

Released on July 28, 2011 “Finally Famous” (I believe I was still in college during this album release) is known for Big Seans Hit single “I Do it” which peaked at the top of the Hip-Hop and R&B charts! The Song includes lyrics like this: “My Crew is who I’d widdy-be-wid-it Rose I sippity-sip-it Im Quagmire I fuck Hoes my Cash flow I giggity-giggity it..” so you know the man is a fan of pop culture in some regard. Now that you have a taste of Big Sean's is lyrical style lets move on…

Fun Fact: Family Guys Glenn Quagmire is 61 years old in show canon..let that sink in a bit..

This brings us to his song on the above mentioned album titled “High featuring artist Wiz Khalifa & Chiddy Bang. The song has a solid head nodding beat to it but the interesting part is some of the beginning lyrics which lets listeners know Sean is a fan of a certain video game series, the lyrics are as followed: “ Now Im in the building like two planes bitch, I Kickin it with my shirt off, on some Liu Kang shit, Sleep with the sun up like I grew fangs bitch, I come alive in the night on some Bruce Wayne shit…” Did you catch that? Yep that portion of the lyrics actually mentions non other then Mortal Kombat character and champion LIU KANG!

Do you think Liu applied any sunblock before posing for this picture...?

An interesting fact is that the DC Comics character Batman is also mentioned in the above lyrical typhoon that is “High”. The fun part about this fact is that Midways cross over video game Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was released in 2008…and this song came out 2 years BEFORE Injustice, Midway/Neatherrelms next bout into the DC Comics fighting game universe….while Mortal Kombat 9 came out April 19, 2011 which is 3 months BEFORE above said Big Sean's Debut Album was released. And whats even more interesting is that Wiz Khalifa (who carries no relation to Mia Khalifa the Lebanese American porn star who made her debut in 2014 who had a video she posted banned on Youtube in 2015 for…twerking…) who is featured on Sean’s song had HIS SONG featured in the Teaser Trailer for a little game called Mortal Kombat X.

Wait....why didn't Scorpion just teleport...?

So two characters who have been in the SAME game series since 2008 mentioned in the SAME song in 2011 by two artist who share a Mortal Kombat Kinship made by the SAME company a possible coincidence? Maybe, but something tells me Ed Boon and Co might be fans of some of the artists in question and vice versa…or you know…they just put Wiz’s song in the trailer cause of the “who’s next” portion of the lyrics…either way its something that if you think about it, will kind of blow your mind...

I wonder if Big Sean was so "High" he didn't remember writing this song....?
