Weren't the Aztecs prominent around 1428 to 1520? Medieval times were from the 5th to the late 15th century right?

The Aztec empire used the obsidian weaponry and the Macuahuitl long before Columbus arrived, which was 1492.

They would've had no interaction whatsoever before that, hence no influence.
