I'm really curious how they are going to handle the gore. Mk11 was already crossing the line for a lot of players; even the artists were having a rough time with it. I'm wondering if they are going maintain making it as realistic as possible, or if they will be taking a step back to make it less realistic or more cartoony. I love a good fatality, but I really hated the ones with intestines and detached eyeballs.

They should try to find a balance between cartoony and torture-porn. I think Cassie's fatalities are a good example of this.

There are some brutal fatalities that I like because they reflect on the characters personalities. Like Tanya's Edenian Drill or Mileena's Tasty Treat.

Honestly, I hardly care what they do with fatalities; they're so boring now. I'm more interested in seeing what new Brutalities they have, and PLEASE make them all available from the start so we can actually see them during offline events.

Back on Fatalities, it's not gonna happen, but I would like to see the return of secret Fatalities and Fatalities with difficult inputs/conditions. For me, Fatalities are mostly boring because they require no effort. It's just a waste-of-time cutscene at the end of a match instead of something gameplay-related.

I was literally thinking earlier, I really miss having secrets in games. In the old days, if you didn't have a guide book, you might not even know the inputs for special moves. That's one thing we'll never get back thanks to the internet.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
Even Ed Boon already admitted that the fatalities on MK series franchise, got an ultra over the top level, and , despite being ultra gore, bloody and violent, they are so exaggerated that you cannot take them seriously anymore .... they are part of the franchise, and gave a lot of contribution to make the game ultra famous, but, every mk game they try hard to make them more overdone than ever, so, the violence in MK is not a huge point for censorship anymore, but, a mechanic that reached a level where you start to laugh about how imaginative they are, and not about the shocking value

I prefer the Brutality over the Fatalities anytime !

I'm very curious what engine is being used this time around. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate was still Unreal Engine 3, so curious if they'll be using that again, going with Unreal Engine 4, or right to 5.

Will it be current generation only, is last gen being supported? Will there be a PC version and will it again launch alongside the console versions?

I'm very curious on these details as well. My thinking is that if it's running on UE4/5, then it's going to be exclusive to newest gen consoles. Which would leave me stranded.

I have a PC capable of running it, but the PC player base is so tiny in comparison to consoles. PC would need to be included in cross-platform, which I doubt they'd do. Least not in ranked.

I think a happy medium would be that fatalities are disabled in tournament/online play, but Brutalities are allowed.

I still enjoy fatalities, but I wouldn't mind if they simplified them a bit and made them feel a bit darker/more dire than the over-the-top hilarity of the modern ones. I remember playing the original and the fatalities felt like serious business.

I want Havik to have an intro where he rips his face off as he walks towards the opponent.

And I want a fatality where he crushes the opponent's knees with his morningstar, and as they fall to their knees, he tears off the lower part of their face and places it in his lower face skull, forming an eerie and grotesque full face.

No variations. Fuck them.

Havik, Baraka, Noob and a Cyborg in the roster are a must for me.

A Konquest Deception-esque Story Mode. Onaga as the big bad.

Gameplay which will appeal to normies as well as pros to guarantee the game's longevity.

I hope they improved the krushing blow system if they kept it. I would want it to be more interesting than Geras but less ridiculous than Johnny's. But Liu's air fireball or Shao's taunt off felt rewarding.

Luckily, iirc, Ed Boon said they are done with variations.

Mortal Kombat 30th anniversary: The Ed Boon interview - Polygon

You’re in a great place right now with this series, where people love the cinematic storytelling and the fighting mechanics are in a really tight place right now. But I’m also wondering what lessons you think you and the team have learned from
Mortal Kombat 11. What do you think were your biggest takeaways there?

There’s a whole bunch of micro decisions, like little moments that happen [in a fight] where what should happen when you break a combo, or the mechanics of a wake-up attack. We change the game every time. Like for MK 11, we didn’t have a run like Mortal Kombat X had. At the end of every game we do a postmortem [where we look at]: What was great? What could have been better? What should we not bring back? Sometimes we don’t bring something back for the big picture of being different. MK X had character variations, and then 11 had create-your-own-character variations. But when we do another game, we probably won’t have character variations. Even though it did well, it’s time to move on to the next thing. So there’s a bunch of little micro decisions that we make.

Wishes:

  1. Reptile & Smoke to be in the game
  2. Skarlet to return
  3. No variation system
  4. better customization (I feel Injustice 2 was way better in that regard, but whatever you do, let me earn the outfits/unlocks/currency whatever by playing whatever style match I want. I mostly only play vs friends, would be nice not to have to play KL)
  5. MK9 meter system or something better than MKX/MK11 lol
  6. no stupid gimmick mechanic that they always seem to want to add
  7. Working ice clone

With respect to Fatalities and gore, it's all fake and doesn't bother me in the slightest. They can amp up the gore or tone it down, makes no difference to me.

If it's on Unreal Engine 4, that's supported by last gen consoles so it's possible there's be a last gen version. Obviously time will tell.

I'm overall hoping for Crossplay between console and PC standard. Microsoft has been pushing in general for this for a while now. Sony, of course, isn't a big fan.

I really wish we're going to have actual crossplay on PC and consoles, because I just built a PC and don't want to spend money on a PS5.
Nice, what's your system specs? With Sony's first party titles now being time-exclusives at best, going PC really is the best way to go.

I hope it's removed, personally. I prefer proper kombos.

run. combos. no cornball ass guests or at least turn down the number of them so more actual mk characters can get slots (basically asking for the impossible). somehow not make it worse than mk11.

Ryzen 7 5800-X, RTX 3070. Should be good :p

As far as fatalities go, I don't even care if they're in the game or not.

My finishing move of choice? D1 or D4 and ON TO THE NEXT. lmfao
Yee dude. I like brutals cause they're quick and at the end of a string or special move and don't take forever typically. But when you're playing a long set with someone like that's just a big ole waste of time.
