MK 11 Pro Kompetition 2020/2021 Top 8(ish) Character Usage

A new Pro Kompetition is upon us and that means its time for me to once again count every time a character is used in one of the (many, many) online tour event top 8s (and occasionally top 4, depending on what is streamed) Also, remember that this is just for fun and I failed math several times in several different ways in college, if something doesn't add up completely or seems off...its because I am big dumb.

Hey y'all I was bored and had some extra time so I tossed a little player guide in the first comment under OP! Its nothing too in depth...just a list of which players have made top 8 in their region, how many times, what characters they have used, and who has won what in each region!

(Note that some players have an 'N/A' where their characters should be...this is because a couple of regions only had their top four streamed)

Updated OP and first comment to reflect Interkontinental Kombat week #2!!! I tried a new way of moving my notes from my word program into here to speed up my editing. 1.) It ended up being slower and 2.) it ended up fucking a bunch of things up that required my diligent fixing. SO...if anything looks super fucked or wrong or (hopefully not) just plain missing, it will all be fixed next week when I punch in the notes for NA East and West #2!!!

So the following characters have won a Pro Komp event so far:
Jacqui, Scorpion, Cetrion, Kung Lao, Joker, Fujin, Erron Black, Sindel, Kotal Kahn, Noob, Frost, Shao Kahn.

Also, Kano and Kabal continue to be two of the least-picked characters, despite people raging about them being OP postpatch.

Imo it's an interesting mix that shows diversity in playstyle. I'm curious to see what happens this weekend :)

Honestly the character diversity has been crazy and the number of top used characters vs. the number of wins they've bagged is insanely different from the first pro comp. I'll admit to fast forwarding through a few Jacqui mirrors, but other than that...these matches have been absolutely top notch.

And not many dragon stances either surprisingly

Did anyone watch the pro competition yesterday? I havnt been keeping up with the tournaments lately but when I heard krispifungus made top 8 I went to check it out. I was watching krispi vs titaniumtigerz and mid match tigers got dq. He was spamming stomp with sheeva with his custom variation name being "whywouldudothisnrs!" Apparently NRS banned him from entire series saying his name was offensive lol. Pretty crazy stuff just havnt seen any posts about it on here yet.

@DarksydeDash has a status update from last night where he and others were discussing it.

Updated OP and first comment to include Liga Latina week 3!!!

Really quick I want everyone to just look at how crazy iScorpion has been in Mexico...has won all three straight weeks, has used fourteen characters, won one of the weeks from the loser's side, and won week three with hidden random select. iScorpion has Mexico on complete lockdown so far.

I really wish the regions had a way to play each other after these individual series conclude.. It’d be so much fun, like WUFL

Do you think there is enough competition in MX and BR for 2 leagues? Kinda feels like they should be 1.

The biggest issue is distance (I think). There are nearly 7000km/4400mi between certain points of Mexico and Brazil. That wouldn't be great for online tournaments.
Yeah I suppose so. Just a shame I think the tournament would e better, and thered be a bigger prize. I feel the same about EU East and West, but obviously again its a distance issue

Updated OP and first comment to include Interkontinental Kombat week 3! What a wild weekend this was for the Pro Kompetition. First, over in Oceania, the absolute mad lad Wazminator pulled out RoboCop in grand finals...and won. So we get to say RoboCop won a Pro Komp event, which is just really awesome. On top of that, on Sunday, we finished up the roster! That's right, Rambo and Raiden finally made an appearance!

We aren't even quite halfway through this crazy online Pro Komp and we have seen every single character in the roster represented in top eight. That is really impressive to me and a great sign of just how damn well balanced MK 11 really is.

Anyways, cheers and sorry that I got the update up a little late this week and I will see ya'll for North America week 3 next weekend!!!

Updated OP and first comment to reflect North America Week #3!!! Well there we have it, NRS figured out how hide the nasty, naughty, scathing custom variation names from the virgin, unprotected eyes of the people watching a Mature rated game and Tigerzz was thus allowed to stomp and annoy and enrage his way to a Pro Komp victory. I really can't believe we are not even halfway through this whole crazy thing! I have had so much fun watching every single weekend...can't wait to see what week four has in store for us, see ya'll next week for...Liga Latina #4!!!

Updated OP and first comment to include Liga Latina week #4!

Pretty interesting week in the always interesting Brazil, Konqueror brought (his second) off meta Scorpion back to Brazil and, this time, all the way to grand finals and a big W. This means that Brazil has had a different winner each week so far, making it one of the single most competitive scenes in the Pro Komp!

Psycho-Jean walked into their fourth straight Lat Am South top eight and would settle for nothing less than first place this time. Sticking to their literal guns and running Erron Black to a well deserved victory and becoming the fourth winner of the region's events!

Heading up north, Yadriel_el_punk continued their reign of terror with some of the cleanest Kotal Kahn play I have seen since launch. Give that big chungus another W, Yadriel has three so far and doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon.

Back in Mexico, we were all wondering if it would continue to be the all iScorpion show as it had been in the last three weeks and...it kind of was! Having tried choosing different characters every match/loss and having tried random select...iScorpion decided to try something new for (most of) this bracket and grand finals...the mirror match! However, iScorpion's Johnny just wasn't up to the pace of Illuminati's...Mexico has its second event winner! (iScorpion has now played seventeen different characters in four top eight brackets, by the way)

See y'all next week for Interkontinental Kombat week #4!!!

Updated OP and first comment to include Interkontinental Kombat Week #4 (and the first week where I have had the update posted right on time in a long while).

Some fun little facts after this weekend: Oceania is the only region with only one winner so far, Europe West is the first region to not have a competitor make four consecutive appearances, and Jacqui and Scorpion are very popular choices in these top eights :p

See y'all next week for North America Week #4 (and the official midway mark of this crazy Pro Komp!)!!!

Alright ya'll I have updated OP and the first comment through NA West #4 (and the official halfway point of this Pro Komp!!!)

Your fun fact from this week is that NA West is officially the only region where the player with the most weekly appearances doesn't yet have an event win under their belt.

(Also, if you were wondering who was responsible for all those Jacqui numbers, blame Latin America North and North America West...they are tied for the most amount of players in top that have used Jacqui at five dirty Jacqui players each!)
