When did you start playing online? It might be good practice more offline. Thats what Im doing to get used to the controller.

well ive been winning alot lately with smoke human smoke and scorpion. i practiced alot online, im finally getting combos down and specials and what have you. im having alot of fun with umk3. its funny i have the 360 with all this power and im playing a 2d game from 1995

I've had my 360 since August and I've easily played UMK3 more than anything else I've owned for it (Oblivion, DOA4, Dead Rising, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Splinter Cell: Double Agent).
