I made a spreadsheet of every character that's been in the 3 (4) most recent MK games

Fun Facts:

So there have been 49 unique (Mortal Kombat) characters in the past 3 games (MK9-MK11), and of the bunch, only 11 have been in all 3 games, 23 have been in 2, and 15 have only been in one.

Every character that was in Mortal Kombat 9 appeared again in MKX or MK11 in some form, except Stryker.

Less than half of the characters that appeared in MKX, but not in MK9 also appeared in MK11, which are D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Erron Black, Cassie Cage, and Jacqui Briggs.

MK11 has the least amount of newcomers between it and MKX, with only 3 brand new characters, while MKX had 9.

9 of the 10 characters that appeared in each of the 3 previous game is also confirmed for MK1.

Only a few 3D era characters have made it back into the New Age of Mortal Kombat: Kenshi, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Tanya, Bo Rai Cho, Fujin, and Frost.

Between the 3 games, only 1 character has been DLC twice, which is Rain. Shang Tsung, however, was DLC for MK11 and is a preorder bonus for MK1, which could be argued to be a form a DLC.

Speaking of Shang, he is the only character on this list to be all 4 things: On the base roster for the game (MK9), missing from the game (MKX), a member of a Kombat Pack DLC (MK11), and a preorder bonus (MK1). Icon behavior, honestly.

i think we might finally get stryker this time around especially if john cena is gonna be in the game as dlc they might just have a stryker skin for him. im calling it now lol

Maybe you should just play another game.

They've added new characters to play as since X so clearly you didn't like that switch up enough

Those are cool, but the same Sonya, Kano, Jax, their kids, SF forces every game got old.

Don't understand how a character can get old when you're not forced to play them, and their kids have been in two games not every game, you also only mentioned Sonya like she had the kids herself.

If you find it old then play something different, don't see anyone crying about the staples being Tekken and SF

people crying about special forces when there's 20 plus other characters to play is what's gotten old

What 20 plus other characters? They are always the same. If you want a character to come back you have to be lucky enough so that they make it into the 2 roster places remaining after all the Special Forces amd their families get into the game next to the ninjas and usual, regular characters. Look at the last 2 games. Only characters coming back after a long time were in MKX Kenshi, Tanya and Bo'Rai Cho and in MK11 Fujin and Frost.

But X gave a host of new character so how can you complain you want something different then be mad at new characters?

MK11 brought back tons of highly requested characters like Nightwolf, Sindel, Jade, Noob etc it had been almost a decade since we could play as them so how are they "boring"?

I liked the 4 Outworld characters.

The 4 kombat kids were just silly brainstorming ideas: "let's just have children of main characters- blonde girl that looks like Sonya and plays with both parents' moves, nut punches like father, Jax daughter that punches too, a mix of Kenshi and Scorpion, so we'll say Kenshi's child though raised by the Shirai Ryu, a Kung Lao kid but there's so mamy kids and he's dead so we'll name this one cousin/nephew"

Can't wait to see how MK1 will use the kameo characters. If they have SOME kind of playability (and not just be used like a tag summon as in MvC), this could be HUGE. I am really anxious to see how Kameos work.
