I block the jip then try to jump out but the grab still gets me. don't understand.
I think some characters can jump out slightly so the jip will hit them barely off the ground and it's really hard to follow up.
Tech the throw.

Don't block if you think he's going to do a jip because it will make the command grab whiff, or just tech the grab with 1 or 3 and pray Cyrax doesn't go for a combo. The best way to stop the command grab is to not let it start
does anyone know how many total frames you have to tech the command grab throw?
It's a loop. If you block the jump-in, he can go for the command grab. However, if you input an attack button at the same time Cyrax performs the command grab, you will escape the throw.
If the jump-in hits you and he tries to go for the command grab, the grab will whiff. It's a really dangerous gamble to take, as you will eat a full combo - and likely resets - if you guess wrong.

good luck teching this, cyrax can hit confirm jip pretty easy now if they just always do a 2 as a link to the jip.
so 1. cyrax players are idiots if they don't use this frequently and 2. its kinda fucked up that he has this when he also had a 70% reset.
i guess he needs it.. lol

Yep, you can block the jip and tech the throw.
Cyrax is a huge momentum character imo, and the only reason he isn't godlike is because it's fairly tough to get that momentum in the first place for a lot of matchups.
yeah idk what the cyrax players think but I'd rather use kitana against him than sonya

Yes you can block the jip and tech the throw, but your fucked if the cyrax is someone who likes to jip, 21, throw. Because the 21 gets hit confirmed into an ex net and then its a shit storm from there on.
Noserfatu ^this advice will get you boned against a good Cyrax. If you don't block the safe jip he can hit confirm into his bullshit resets. The best way is to read the command grab and tech with 1 or 3. It's easier to tech compared to a normal throw IMO.
And let's not forget if Cyrax is fighting out of the corner, he can hit confirm into Ragdoll Kick, put THEM in the corner and start all over again.

it tends to be pretty obvious what a cyrax is going for once you really think about it, hes either gonna go jip straight into it again on prediction of you blocking, go for a string on block to get meter/chip, if hes gonna end a stringto go for the command grab, ie 12CG instead is 121, its pretty easy to see coming.
With 12 yes. I tend to find that the 21 string is good because it can be used to condition your opponent. Its hard to react to 2 command grab if your used to teching 21. Its a guess on both parts, the option that crushes the guessing game is mashed out armor. It will stop command grab and even the strings on block. You can armor between 121 and 212.
sometimes you can hesitate and take a tiny step back instead of forward and throw out a net for those who like to counter poke. And if blocked youll be just outside of most normals that can punish net.
Command grab sets up for one of the best guessing games.
Cyrax command grab is an oddity, it is actually teched by 1 or 2.
I just block and mash 1 at the same time, seems to do the trick.

Im starting to find u can naked duck in between (special) high hitting strings to make it whiff and punish but 33 and 21 make that tactic tricky, and still "guessing". All I can think is maybe with breaker in toe this is a viable, low risk tactic. With breaker it would cost Cyrax TWO bars (cause of EX net) to do his big combo anyways, and even then breaker will prob come by soon enough.
I have lots of problems with this move too so Id appreciate any advice as well. Esp now that w1nter has been stolen from us by vsm.

I know what you can do when a command grab starts, press your xbl guide button, scroll down to recent players, click dude name, go to send message and send him gg, but you gotta do it as soon as the first grab connects...otherwise you won't win
I agree with J360 , command grab is probably one of the best moves in the game and I really like using / abusing it.
Noserfatu you can escape the command grab by jumping out just as Cyrax jumps in. You will be slightly off the ground and take a knock down which is better that dealing with the mind games. If Cyrax successfully jumps in, you pretty much have to read the opponent and hope you're right.
If you're always using 1 - 2 or 2 - 1 command grab without any variation, the opponent will learn your patterns and possibly poke out of the string or tech the command grab quite easily.
I found it quite useful to sometimes let the 1 or 2 take off. This basically lets him know that you will commit to the combo and he will eat either a mid hitting bomb (2) or launcher + ragdoll / grab. This will condition him to block the whole string and the next time you can try the half string into command grab or simply command grab off the bat.
I also find that jumping in (after command grab) with an instant d4 into 1 - 2 pressure will throw off his defence / blocking due to the advantage on hit. Finally, 3 - 3 - 4 is an excellent string because of its 5 frame advantage on block; you can then pressure with your favorite string looking for a command grab opening or just give them a combo on hit confirm.
