high cpu spikes while browsing

Hey Guys,

I have a slightly older pc here (specs below)
and it has high cpu spikes (+ 90%) only just by browsing the internet!
everytime i open a new tab for instance the cpu goes +90.
it does not matter which internet browser i use, it happens everytime!

I have win7 on it but have also tried linux live on it and also happens, it must be a hardware error.
how can i find out which component i need to replace?

thank you in advance!

The first thing I would check is the amount of chrome extensions you have running. Pop-up blockers, and other extensions like that will take cpu resources. You might want to uninstall flash as well. It's one of the biggest cpu hogs and you don't really need it nowadays.

Also, you might want to check on your cpu temperature. Download SpeedFan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) and make sure your cpu fans are cooling the cpu properly. Check the cpu fan/heatsink and case fans to make sure you have proper airflow.

If your cpu is running hot, you might want to invest in one of these big heatsink cpu coolers that have copper pipes contacting the cpu. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103182
This will allow you to use a case fan to cool the cpu and send the hot air directly out of the back of the case. Also, remounting the cpu to the new heatsink with fresh thermal paste will probably help a lot with cooling.

ALL I HAVE IS THE GREEN.
i use firefoy with only two extensions: u-block and ghostery
I'm not a huge fan of Firefox. It uses a lot of memory. I use Chrome with an extension called Adblock. I've always had issues with firefox crashing but I haven't used it in years. I heard the new Firefox is much better but I haven't tried it.

my guess was that the graphic card is broken.
do you know how i can find out if its the graphic card?
Is your monitor plugged into the GPU? Can you play 3D games without errors? Can you watch HD videos? If you can do these things then your GPU is probably fine. However, it's an older card so it's probably not going to do any of these things great. It doesn't sound like a graphics card issue but your card may not be helping as much as it could.
