Frost "Ice Machine" Tournament Variation Combo Thread

I gotta say, I'm really loving this character so far. This will be the thread for Frost's Ice Machine tournament variation.


VARIATION 2 Ice Machine

Useful Strings

F2 (Half screen reaching normal thats safe)
132 (+3 on block)
134 (Hard knockdown)
B12 (Forward advancing Mid)
224 (Good combo ender)
B22 (Forward advancing Mid with great range)
344 (Able to hit confirm the low into a full combo)
B32D1 (Low starter and your main combo starter/extender)

Variation Specific Special Moves

DD1 - Glacier Calving (Moving shield that blocks projectiles)
DB2 - Core Discharge (Arching projectile that causes a hard knockdown)

BF4 - Auger Lunge (Main combo ender)
DB4 - Microburst (MB Freezes. Main combo extender)

Right now, I'm doing b+2,2 xx d/b+4 EX b+3, 2, d+1 2, 2, 4. My current whiff-punishing midscreen combo.

Variation 2 I am doing b22 xx db4 mb, j2 b32d1, b12 xx bf4. I am getting 301.

In a punish situation starting with 13 actually does more damage and gets you up to 310.

If you time it right, you can do double head-bomb combos. Too soon to say if it's optimal or viable.
Can you show video. I am really struggling to get decent combos mine are 20-25%

I'm also noticing head bomb is plus 76 on block but when you do pressure into it it shows -7 to -4 on block? Is it a glitch with the frame data box?

Can you show what combos you got and that double bomb one? I'd really appreciate it.

This is just for proof of concept. I have no idea if this will eventually lead to optimal damage. Head bomb is def not +76 on block lolol. I also saw that in the frame data and tested it. It's waaay wrong.

Yeah I figured it was hella wrong. It's like plus 1 or maybe 0 on cuz I can follow after.

Reguarding two HB setup I thought you meant in a long juggle combo, I haven't been able to juggle them high enough to freeze them before they hit the ground. Maybe a KB?

Yea, they need to be super close to the ground for the bombs to hit. Not like Cyrax bombs lol.

Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

Is that KB move a Tournament loadout? And what combos do you have for follow up after head bomb freeze?

Hopefully with everyone sharing tech we will find some cool stuff.

The most damaging mid screen starter into the Bnb freeze sequence is actually from the 344. Really easy to hit confirm during the 44 part of string.

So if everyone is cool with the combo thread setup I suggested, I can create a new thread and could it be merged with this one? Then I would update it as the combos start coming.

I like the idea of having 2 separate threads for her 2 tournament viable variations. I'll start a thread for Variation 1. :) I'll contribute, edit, and update what I can over time... but work and life are busy. It'll be a work in progress. I'm sure there will be mutual combos between both variations.

That is a good idea too. But they should both be stickied of course.

What are you guys doing after a midscreen (EX)d, b+4? when the enemy is in the air? All I've been getting right now is a j+1, b2, bf+4.

I know this is combos, but I’m mostly looking for Var1 bomb setups atm. Anyone found a way of setting up bomb during a corner combo in a way that allows grab to freeze? It seems to roll too far.

I think we should have a bomb setup section in the variation's combo thread. (I dunno which one uses the bomb, gotta get used to the names lol)

I think the 2nd variation is better right now. Too soon to tell, but her zoning in 2 is really good.
Ahh. I really want to use her as a rushdown but I feel shes more of a space controlling character

Variationless Ferra Torr
Expanding on the idea of getting multiple bombs out in one combo.

Sadly it is a custom variation, but hopefully they become usable in the future.

Corner combo with Crown and Microburst:

B32D1 > DB4amp > small step back > CloseBomb > 3 >13xxCloseBomb setup. 285 Damage

I agree, I just thought it was a bit too early and we're still flushing out the optimal combos. I'll update when we have some more.
