Question - Cassie Cage Except what?

Hey,

Being trying to find a main character for a rather long time now and got Cassie in my sight. A lot of people said to me that she is pretty hard to learn especially online because her combos require visual confirmation and that the lag (online) severely hinders her potential. So since some people on TYM actually give good advice I ask the more experienced Cassie Cage character specialists here in this sub-forum.

What would you say? Should a rather new (but with FG experience [e.g. Street Fighter]) player pick up Cassie?

Cassie Brawler was my first main, I've always played casual until MKX. It took me some months of practice to be able to do her combos during combat but I never had any problems doing them online (at least not more problems that I had with any other character).
If you have the timing you should be able to do the combo consistently regardless of lag (assuming you have adapted to the lag and that the lag doesn't change too much).

for starters don't let the condition of online gameplay have anything to do with your judgment of playing a character or not, cassie is my most recent character and I have no problems with her even online

Her optimal stuff is hard to do online in good connections. You can't really hit confirm df1 into ex flip either. Hollywood's midscreen nutpunch setups require a specific height to do, certain corner combos.... Brawler is her easiest variation. Do that.

idk just pick online spec-ops and be unbeatable cause nobody can react to missles, the @Compbros strategy

Hollywood is excellent to start with, but in high level play you need to be able to ubf1 (aka iag) on point flawlessly to compete in matchups such as SubZero(GM), LiuKang(Any) or Quan.

Hollywood's conversion potential (able to perform a pop-up into a reset from anything, including d4 on hit) is coupled with a good (~30%+) midscreen and excellent (~40%+) corner damage output, 50-50 mixups off of frame advantage situations, and a godlike reach (b1, b212, d4 etc).
Cassie dominates in the Neutral and competes with the true top tier in several facets of the game, while if you are really good at executing her combos and on point with all of her conversions and resets you should be able to reach the highest level of play with her.
The catch is iag being a bitch, and that whatever Cassie does, Lao does better.

To be honest, since you are coming off street fighter, I think cybernetic kano is perfect for players coming off street fighter since he plays very similar to how street fighter characters play. He has fast punishing normals, a very good backdash, decent zoning, good normals, etc. But no mix ups, but Cassie is a good start too since she will essentially teach you ask the games mechanics by learning her, meter management, stamina management, run combos, armor, etc.

Thanks for all the replies I will take everything here into consideration! TYM has still got some good people :)
