Old Man Erron from X is on Kotal's side, Young Man Erron is like "I pick the winning side" so he heads over to the side of the Black Dragon, and by extension, Kronika.
They work in trying to capture young Sonya and JC. Trying to recruit young Liu Kang and Kung Lao by convincing them that Raiden fucked them over. Basically some side quest shit, while the others are engaged in the meat of the story.
Erron, like last time, is just a foot soldier who does things for money.
I don't even remember what happens to him midway through the story cause he wasn't interesting enough to pay attention to. I think he just goes away cause both young and old Kano die? I dont know.
Having said that, he's the most sensible out of the lot so far, as far as the hourglass is concerned. And Erron got dat self awareness.
He doesnt understand how he beat Kronika, he doesn't know how it happened. And now that it has, he has no interest in being a time lord. He takes the hourglass and dumps it into the Sea of Blood where it will continue to sink forever in the bottomless ocean.

TL;DR Erron has a brain and tosses the hourglass where it cant be retrieved.
