A couple things:

This by no means is meant to invalidate what Blake has written here. He is absolutely correct. However, if you find yourself disliking the damage scaling of d2 combos, you have another option:

b2. B2 doesn't scale the way that d2 does and it is perfectly serviceable as an anti-air tool. It does come with a caveat: Unlike d2, you have to do the b2 a LOT earlier in order for it to anti-air correctly. Still, I think that with enough practice both options should be viable.
