Kabal is top tier in UMK3. He is mid tier in MKD. So it seems like its generally accepted for now that Kabal in UMK3 is better gameplay wise than he is in MKD.

I don't think there is much more to this than to discuss what changed about him to take him from top to mid.

I have played a little deception a while ago and never saw any magic like there was for him in UMK3

He is more powerful in UMK3 than he is in MKD since he is #1 in UMK3 and not #1 in MKD. If Kabal played in UMK3 like he does in MKD he would be in the lower part of the top 10.

Without question UMK3 Kabal is > than MKD Kabal.

MKD Kabal is a very defensive character that is only effective on his opponent's mistakes. Once he hits you with HookSwords 4 or U+2 then he has you and it's hard to get out. Other than that, play equally defensive and Kabal is hard not to beat.

UMK3 Kabal is a very offensive character, but in a defensive kind of way. He's always safe, if played right. He can and will spin you on your every mistake as the spin has no startup frames.

Kabal can also be played tradiational keep away UMK3, then instantly switch to rush down. This is another thing that makes him outrageously dangerous.
