2009 to 2015 major tournament question

Off the top of your head, which tournaments would you say were designated the major status? Not super regionals but majors. So stuff like Evo and Final Round are obvious.

Also, these tournaments must have had at least a 5-6 year run.

It changes every year. So it's probably better to pick a specific time period.

For example, right now, majors would be Combo Breaker, CEO, EVO, Viennality, Celtic Throwdown, ECT, NEC, KIT, and Final Round.

You have tournaments which are debatable, like Winter Brawl.

Regionals would be stuff like Frosty Faustings, Texas Showdown, Naptown Clutch, Summer Jam, Defend the North, Dreamhack Dallas, Toryuken etc.

From 2009 to 2016. The modern age of the FGC. And again, they had to have had at least a 5-6 year run.

As for winter brawl, that was definitely a super regional. Is anything, summer jam was a major for a good while there.

The problem is that most 'majors' don't stay the same for 5-6 years. There are plenty of tournaments that were majors at one time, then became regionals a couple years later. So just because it's been around longer, doesn't really mean much.

There can also be a tournament that becomes a major after 2-3 years, so artificially limiting it to 5 or more doesn't really reflect what's actually going on in the tournament landscape.

It's just not a good qualification for what makes a major.
