Gosh, this is very conflicting for me! There are some choices I absolutely love, and some others I find... questionable and would have preferred other picks. When I first saw this earlier today, I dismissed it as a fake, but it's pretty clear it's real, so time to accept it!
I'll try to go in order of who I'm excited about the most! Not gonna put Shang Tsung in here since we knew he would be in already, but I love him; so he'd be my number one if you're wondering.
Fujin: OH MY GOD! FINALLY! I'm SO happy about this! By far the best MK character choice on this list IMO. I'm so excited to see what NRS has to offer with him after all these years, I really want to see him fly!
Ash: If you can't tell by my username, I'm a horror fanatic, and the Evil Dead franchise happens to be one of my all-time favorites! I really can't wait to see his intros and dialogue, which is all hopefully voiced by Bruce Campbell himself. He has so much potential to be great, and I really hope he isn't wasted like Jason Voorhees was in X. For skins, I'd love to see the Army of Darkness and S-Mart looks.
Spawn: I'm a pretty casual Spawn fan, but I always thought the character would be extremely fitting for Mortal Kombat. I've been pushing for him to be added since MK X, through Injustice 2, and now finally MK 11; now my wish has been granted! Holy FUCK has it been a long journey getting him in though, but the stars have aligned and here he is! I have full faith he'll play brilliantly, and look badass too; his skins better include some of the more obscure comic looks though.
The Joker: Ok, while initially not a character I'd want remotely near an MK game ever again, after thinking about it; I'm fully on board. This certainly wasn't a character a lot of people wanted, and honestly, does he fit? Not as much as Spawn or Ash, that's for sure, but can he work? Definitely. I'm very morbidly excited to see how this turns out, and while I think NRS will definitely give him the MK re-vamp he needs not to feel like his Injustice counterpart, ultimately I think it's gonna come down to his looks, how he plays, and the voice. Someone mentioned this earlier, but if Mark Hammil played him again I'd be over the moon! Doubt it'll happen, but at the very least give him a B:TAS skin to have that classic Joker look. His interactions and fatalities have so much potential now that he's untethered from the bonds of censorship, and I don't think Boon and co. would add him if they didn't have some kind of unique skin planned. Count me in.
Sindel: I am SO HAPPY that she is in! Honestly, I prefer her to Spawn and The Joker by a landslide, and while I love her lore, and she was definitely on my request list for KP1; I can't say as I'm excited for her as the guests. Don't get me wrong, she's a great inclusion and I'm overjoyed for her fans, but I never actually enjoyed playing as her. In MK 9 she really wasn't my style, and in Deception and UMK3 I never touched her. However, this is all just personal to me, and I'm still pleased with the choice tremendously; her intros with Kitana and Shao Kahn are going to be amazing, and I can't wait to see how NRS re-designs her.
Nightwolf: I'm not actually that big of a Nightwolf fan, to be honest; however, like Sindel, I'm very happy for his inclusion. While his playstyle and aesthetic never appealed to me, he does admittedly have a lot of cool lore, and MK 9 made him more badass than ever before with his sacrifice to kill Sindel. He was also on my KP request list, and I felt he was inevitable in the first place, so here he finally is and I'm ok with that. It is nice to see that the devs are riding that MK3 nostalgia train as hard as they are though, with Sindel, Kabal, and now Nightwolf forming a trinity of debuting Trilogy characters in the game.
The Terminator: This is honestly a big meh from me at least conceptually. I love the first two Terminator movies, and while I do think the T-800 could fit, there are quite a few other guests I'd much prefer; Pennywise and Michael Myers especially. The deal breaker for me on this is whether Arnold Schwartznagger bothers to grant him his likeness and if they get a good voice for him. Even so, I don't think I'll be touching him very much due to the overload of gun-toting characters already. He is definitely my least favorite of the guests, but to everyone who wanted him, I'm happy for you!
Sheeva: It hurts to put an MK character at the bottom of this list, but I'm gonna be straight with you all; I don't really care much for Sheeva. I don't hate her, and honestly, I don't hate any MK character, but out of all the choices, I definitely don't like this one the most. I wasn't fond of her in MK 9 gameplay wise, and I never found her all that interesting; I would have much preferred Kintaro overall, but story wise it does make sense for Sheeva to appear over him, considering he's well.. Dead. Again, for everyone who wanted her, I'm happy for you! I'm glad people are getting their requests granted, and given you enjoy her that is what ultimately matters.
That's all I have to say about that! Overall, I'm.. alright with this? Ok with it? Yeah, ok sounds good. I love three of the choices, like two others, and I'm neutral on the last two; that's acceptable. While I love Spawn and Ash, the Joker and The Terminator are definitely questionable choices. I was really, really rooting for Michael Myers to be in this game since I adore the Halloween franchise, and I would have preferred Pennywise to The Joker if given the choice, but overall I can see them both working; The Terminator especially. I do have to say though, I am really disappointed at the apparent lack of Rain; though that "EnviromentalName" does give me some hope, albeit slim. If the leak about Reiko and Sareena is true though, I'd be in bliss! Those are two of my favorite 3D era characters, and I'm dying to see Sareena again. While others have mentioned the obvious fan picks like Mileena, Ermac, Reptile (GOD knows I wanted to see Mileena in this game!) I'm ok if they're not here; I came to terms with the hybrid cannibal queen herself being absent after seeing Kitana's Kombat Kast. I guess we'll just have to wait four more years to see them again.
