Perfect Legend is the Ryan Leaf of the NRS community. He shouldn't be in the same conversation as Tweedy.

that's a little harsh. Ryan Leaf was a historical bust. No matter how you feel about pl you can't call his career a failure
It's a what have you done for me lately community BaconLord. I wish you would learn to respect the lives of animals so that I may call you VeganLord. Good day sir.

Nobody is calling his career a failure. He has won two Evolution tournaments for Mortal Kombat 9 consecutively. The only other player to do so for an NRS game is Sonic Fox for Mortal Kombat X. Perfect Legend gets a bad reputation for calling out the community's best players when he has not performed up to standards since Mortal Kombat 9. He also publicly called out Sonic Fox in Mortal Kombat X and lost 13:0. That series is universally known in the fighting game community and has forever tarnished Perfect Legend's fighting game career. In fact, if you search "Perfect Legend" on YouTube, the first video you see is that series versus Sonic Fox. I see that he has still not learned to keep his mouth shut, but at least he knows better than to accept Tweedy's challenge.

Perfect Legend is a legend for having won in the past, but Tweedy is a young, up-and-coming star in the NRS community. This topic is a non-issue for me. The lack of variations are. NRS needs to let the people know which special moves will be in which variation and which, if any, will be reduced to casual play. Watching the character trailers and breakdowns has been exciting yet so pointless if you intend to compete in this game.

Plus on block.
I could swear there was an interview or something where they said they plan on relegating all available moves to specific variations so none of them would be left out.

Could just be misremembering though.

But it should be the case, it would make balancing much easier and get rid of the INJ2 issue of there being entire suites of moves never seen by the more serious players

Are you not entertained!?
They do say which moves are standard and which are equipable, but they don't show all specials in the kast and that's an issue too. All of this will be clear at launch, so no big deal. But I still stand by the opinion that they should let the custom variation available for competitive play. I'd rather see players make their own variations this time. Much more interesting.

I 100% agree with you. that's why I'm saying the Ryan Leaf comparison is way to harsh because it undersells everything pl has accomplished

You guys make a huge deal about this and I think it makes no sense. Why would knowing what special moves are in what variation before even having your hands on the game make any difference? You don't need to know that until you are actually playing the game and can lab. Any theory crafting you could be doing right now would be pretty pointless.

At least the PL/Tweedy thing is fun drama, this is just a silly thing to care about.

I think they are waiting for the beta to reveal the official variations, it is clear however that Kustom Variations are a big focus for them and I can understand why, it would be an awesome feature if pulled off properly.

Couldn't agree more with m2dave, I love kabal but i don't even know if i'll actually want to use him since idk what his variations are. Doesn't matter that he has a horizontal air projectile that looks to function fairly similar to gas blast and he's got nomad dash cancels since I have no idea if they'll be in the same variation or any variation.

Why are people upset that the variations aren’t in the trailers? Is there a day 1 tournament somewhere. I just don’t see why it’s so vital to know this now opposed to when you actually play and learn the game. They haven’t even revealed half of the roster yet and people are worried about which variations will be in tournament? I’m not hating just trying to understand.

^ agreed. This complaint is super strange. You will know everything once you get your hands on the game, so what does it matter?

I mean a more relevant complaint I’ve seen is that certain top players are getting early access. That’s definitely a more legitimate complaint imo.

so some of you are saying some of us aren't allowed to know what our favorite characters do? there's been so much ambiguity when it comes to the explanation of the variation system in mk11. I'd like to know beforehand, ok my character can do this and this before release, but then i get the game and it's like oh my character can't do this and this plus I'm not allowed to make him do this and this because of how they've designed the game and online.

So you want to go back to the dark ages when games came out without anybody competitive looking at them in advance?

First of all, do we know that there will be variations? NRS has used the term "customizable loadouts" more so than variations in the character breakdown videos. Second of all, nobody is "theory crafting" and discussing special move properties and frame data. All competitive players in the community would simply like to know what the tournament standards will be like, which begs certain questions. If "customizable loadouts" are the tournament standard, how are players supposed to know which normal or special moves have been selected for a character? Will all special moves shown in the character trailers thus far even be tournament legal? If I had to guess, I assume there will be three variations for each character. But then why has NRS not said so in the videos? Even if I never travel and compete, I would like to know in advance which moves I am allowed to use when I play a serious set with my local scene. I am not sure why some of you have such a difficult time following this rudimentary logic and recognizing the dilemma unless of course you only care about casual gameplay, which is your prerogative.

I am certain the game they are playing is an older version, but you can make an argument they are learning the fundamental gameplay elements of the game. Nonetheless, people who could not careless about tournament standards most likely could not careless about high level players and early access. I am sure lots of people will acquire the game early through illegal measures, which cannot be regulated. So this point is entirely irrelevant.

Maybe that’s precisely why they haven’t shown them. They don’t want you to make a game plan and then go “I can’t do this” over and over lol. You are hyped, I get it, me too but why would you even want that? You sound like you want to get let down lol.

then nrs shouldn't be teasing shit as important as character movelists. show them off and be upfront about them. i want it because it's important information. i don't want to get let down. people who buy season passes without knowing what's in them are the ones that get let down.

So you would rather them not show any moves unless you know which ones are tied to which variation? They are just showing off their custom variations which is fine lol. You don’t care about custom variations because you can’t use them in tournaments and that’s why you’re irritated?

I can understand that you want more information for the competitive scene but how is it important information if it changes before launch though? That is obsolete information. Like the unbalanced damage data they keep telling everyone to relax about.

i think the main concern a lot of players have is that the game is not concrete yet and things are still being changed around this late into the development cycle. im a casual player and it makes even me nervous that they dont have anything set into stone already. doesnt give much player confidence as far as base fighting game structure goes.
