Nah this definitely revitalized my Tekken play. I've been playing for about 3 hours straight now, probably until the the gym later. Wasn't too crazy about the first round of DLC, but they really knocked it out the park with the DLC2 pack.

Intimidation 1,2 is the cheapest shit :D. Natural even on max delay and it is very much hit confirmable. 30+ damage into knockdown and wallsplat and you just gotta block the 1st hit (which is safe) if you get hit by his db2 into INT :D

I think I am gonna change my Steam avatar to Jeffrey Dean Morgan and name myself "+40 on Glenn's skull" or something like that and go play ranked :D

How does the learning curve and execution feel for Negan? My buddy has been playing him all day but refuses to answer any questions until we play tonight lol.

Julia feels pretty deep. Tight window on combos with the good damage, lots of depth to her moveset. I'm loving her so far. Reminds me a bit of Nina. Not too easy to pick up, any touch can carry you to the wall, all the options but lots of options to account for, etc.

Most of his combos are the same. He is Kazumi/Jack levels of ez mode to pick up and imo seems very strong. Only weaknesses he has are imo the following:

- weak crush moves. Standing still or walking forward in intimidation auto parries lows into a full combo though
- no mid homing moves but he has some moves to track both ways so it's not too big if a setback.
- no throws to position switch on break so you are restricted to sidestep-blocking to get out of wall pressure or take your chances trying to attack
- no knockdown low. Lows have somewhat poor range

other than that he seems like a stronger version of Dragunov. Launching power crush is nuts, b1+2 hitting grounded is nuts. He has + frame mids out the ass and lows that are + on hit that leave him standing. He has a good ch game and neutral. Getting in is easy and he is hella oppressive at the wall since you can't escape his bs. His df1-series and jabs are good and he has access to instant generic d4.

This is not what I wanted to hear LOL. I've got 90 more minutes to get ready, but sounds like I am going to be yelling at the stick haha.

You could try and SSL into crouch block to OS some of his stuff but his jabs track to his right and his df1 tracks to his left. Also you might get clipped by df2. his df2 is -14 on block. Make sure to launch his power crush and while standing 2 if you block them. His ws2 can be used similarly to King's fc df2 where you do some pokes or and do something like ss into backdash then just duck and if you see your opponent does anything and then you just pull the trigger on the ws2 and you have a good chance of whiff punishing basically anything.

who actually thinks Negan can be his main character?
I am definitely going to put some work into him and try to start optimizing things, something I never cared to do when playing other Mishimas besides Heihachi, or when playing Jack or Dragunov. I've only played Heihachi and Bryan for quite some time now since I find Devil Jin boring and playing Kazuya just simply tilts me due to lack of safe poking options. Having an "ez mode" character that actually suits my playstyle and who isn't boring is something I've wanted ever since release.

I've been playing like an addict ever since Julia launched. She is perfect in this iteration. Perfect fit for my playstyle and she is hella strong.

Negan... Welcome to Tekken easy peasy lol
Had to rewatch this twice. And to think they are talking about execution isn't relevant in another thread lol.

Some Japanese stream monster on KuroKuro's stream translated Knee's words to English and he claimed that Knee said Negan isn't good. In my opinion Knee plays too defensively and Negan's kit isn't designed for that. You need to get in on that ass with jabs/df1/db4/b1/b2 and utilize his advancing moves with a variety of timings to chase backdashes after pokes get blocked, force + on block mids and eventually force the wall game. I'd be interested to see what players like Saint, Nobi, Anakin, AK, El Negro Piripicho etc. who press more buttons, play at a faster pace and commit to more reads with unsafe moves accomplish with the character.

I played on thursday and friday against my buddy who is Tekken King (s2 ranks lul but anyway). We both went through Negan's kit and traded a bunch of information. I was able to pretty much destroy all his current characters, Kazumi, Shaheen, Katarina, Noctis and Asuka. He adjusted slowly and it got progressively closer but I was able to readjust and fine tune my approach and beat him in bursts of 2/3 and 3/4. We usually go back and forth but I haven't been able to dominate him like this in a long time.

some noteworthy anti Negan tech that needs to be explored is as follows so far:

db2 and whether you can actually block it on reaction - Someone claimed it was 24 frames, I haven't ran any testing on it. Speedkicks ran some and as far as I watched his stream he wasn't able to block it consistently. Negan's posture doesn't drop and the animation is quite subtle and not a snake edge type sweep with the tell-tale posture drop and far reaching spinning leg.

intimidation mix up at the wall - getting hit by db2 means you have to either guess or potentially attempt to fuzzy between int 1 and int 1+3. Int 1+3 is an untechable throw that wallsplats. Whether or not the mix up is fuzzyable is something that should be investigated, although the timing of the mid can be delayed and there are other mids from that stance as well but those are not fast enough to be legit frametraps. Int 1 can be parried or reversed after you get hit by db2 though. Just buffer during hit animation and mash the crap out of b1+3/b2+4 or what have you.

countering the power crush - playing defensively and trying to bait df2 and f1+2 means you are playing scared and losing the neutral by not being active enough. You need to approach with df1's and single jabs or lows so even if you trade with the power crush you won't get launched or you CH the power crush with a low.

My bud sent me this really solid punishment guide on Julia for anyone facing her now. Ima have to adjust a bit when he learns the MU better I see.
