What Improvements You Want To See In Fighting Games In 2019?

You can say a specific Fighting Game, NRS, or just All Fighters in general.

Me personally, Uncle JBeezY want to FGs to NOT have shitty netcode! It baffles me that games are still horrible at this. IJ2 had a pretty damn solid netcode. Probably the best in these couple of years of fighters.

What are your thoughts?

I'll make a list of all of them combined as the perfect FG:

NRS
  • Frame Data on all move lists.
  • Wakeup options.
  • Auto-recording. You record a move, and then the AI repeats it over and over just to help you get the timing down.
French Bread
  • Full tutorial about everything, from basic fundamentals till the advanced stuff and the mechanisms of the game. UNIST had the best tutorials explaining everything, but some stuff were lacking there to deeply explain them.
Arc System Works
  • Demonstration of everything, from tutorials till the hardest combos.
Lab Zero Games
  • GGPO. No need to introduce it. We all know what it is.
Each company has its own good stuff, so I'm leaving out the bad things. Those are important to a good FG. I'm not gonna go deeply into the input stuff, for I don't know what to say about them, but I ask only that they stop being wonky and to be perfectly in unison with the buffering techs (for example, Tiger Knee, Micro Dash Attack, etc). And I don't care about graphic stuff. It's their stuff to show off.

The most important of all...

Smash
  • A obligatory notification to all Wi-Fi warriors to get a fucking ethernet. No Ethernet, no online for you. Innit, get fucked, bitch.
And something to do with the assholes of the RQers.

Enjoy.

Less jack of all trades characters. I saw a lot of those in some games and it discourages people from playing characters that are more specialized and people just debate between which jack of all trades is the best. Keep in mind, I think jack of all trades characters should 100% be present and have a place in games, but they shouldn't out do someone focused on mostly zoning or someone focused on rush down. The goal is play style variety and it would be nice to see designs focused on giving characters very SPECIFIC, INTENDED weaknesses and strengths to keep them in check. For example: Zoner might give rushdown a hard time, but zoners struggle versus counter zoners and counter zoners tend to struggle against rushdown.

I want character customization to be big. Injustie 2, Soul Calibur 6 and others have this and I love it because there's nothing like making your main your own, distinct character that nobody has exactly like yours. Creative freedom is always great to me.

Incentives to discourage rage quits whether that's time in a pool with rage quitters, reduction of in game currency or whatever will help give an incentive to reduce rage quitting while being reasonable.

We've seen a lot of racial diversity in games lately and I hope that trend continues as fighting games to me are about the variety and uniqueness of characters both gameplay wise and lore/design wise.

Frame data in game. Some game companies are very good at including this and it helps me learn so much quicker and especially with my being on a limited time frame I can look at my core, best buttons and form a gameplan around that as opposed to having to guess which takes much more time.

Although generally I haven't had too many problems with netcode in games, any improvements are ALWAYS welcomed.

Forgot to add that one balance. That was included in the new update from Smash.

No, against them you need to be unreasonably punishing. They will NEVER learn, unless you show the hard way. Ragequitting has a consequence, and that is to downgrade to zero the win/lose streaks, which is something that THEY don't want, otherwise in their continuous attempts to do so they shall be banned from online mode. They want to build the win streak just to brag their foolishness. If they want to be better players, then they need to learn the hard way (tutorials, frame data, MU XP, etc), otherwise they may fuck off.

For NRS I want a polished product with the majority of the bugs, kinks, and balance issues worked out before release. I personally do not want to spend a year unknowingly beta testing a game that is supposed to be a finalized product. I also would like a game that is unaffected by quality assurance' personal preferences and bias towards specific people in the community, and "pro" player political propaganda. Developers should be the decision makers, not a player who abuses their influence by complaining loud enough to get what they want.

"Mind Over Matter" I dont mind, and X dont matter
-More safe 50/50's into a rest
-Half screen mid hitting strings
-zoning characters, with rush down & cancel abilities
-Graplers with instant recovery allowing them for d2 & double armor special moves
-d3 lowering hurtbox being +1 on block

Im pretty sure I've missed some of those wonderful features. . .

I thought NRS had an interesting idea with their AI Simulator mode in Injustice 2. I'd love to see what else they can do with it, it could be a pretty interesting side game. It'd also be nice to be able to program a practice bot to fight against.

I like how in certain strategy games like chess people will submit puzzles where the player is placed in the middle of a game or situation and asked to find the optimum solution or move. I think it could be interesting if there was something like this for fighting games. They already sort of did it in training mode, where you're asked to do things like correctly punish a move, or hit confirm. It'd be cool if players could set up their own puzzles, and submit them online for other players to try and solve. It could be things like trying to land the optimal punish combo based on specific characters, or blocking a tough situation, or performing a really hard to execute combo.

I'm all for a training mode that lets you play back recorded sequences from the dummy as a reversal. Or at least just uses a certain string or normal as reversal, rather than just a special move. Having a 2-3 slots for this that you could switch between at random would be dope.

I know a couple games have this already, so it's not exactly something new -- but it'd be great to see it in MK.

Id love the ability to record a match and replay it in training mode.

Also nerf come back mechanics. You shouldn't get an easy win when you have been out played for 3 1/4s of a match. Come back are now boring.

That would be incredibly helpful.

I would LOVE for fighting games to change their DLC rollout. This whole keep people in the dark is getting really redundant at this point. Sure, it guarantees the game's lifespan until the end of that DLC period, but time and time again a lot of FGs fall short of disappointment.

I don't like playing SFV at all, but i love how they changed their mindset into actually revealing their 3rd season DLC. I wish all fighting games in from here on out do the same thing.
