Injustice Pro Series Season 2 Top 8 and Results

I pretty much left the NRS scene after Killer Instinct dropped. I'm also more of a mortal kombat guy at heart but I own MKX and Inj2 though I probably don't have more than 20 hours played between both the titles. Anyways, I just wanted to give you a little background info. I have to disagree with some of the points playingtowin made. I only know who sonicfox is and scar is I didn't know any of the other players but I thought the tournament was pretty hype. The game balance seems to be pretty decent as I saw a lot of variety in the characters and many of the sets were determined on a game 5 with quite a few teetering on less than 20% health.

Whether the game is popular or not I don't really know how to gauge that as I haven't really been following the scene. But as far as the enjoyment in spectating, I thought the tournament was pretty good. I was impressed.

Anyways I suppose I'm ultimately feeding a troll here but just wanted to offer a somewhat outsiders perspective.

I heard the voice, saw the face and thought "some guy is doing a 16 bit impression." He looks great! I think the commentators were all great (I watched twitch all the way instead of Disney, out of laziness).

The matches were insane though. Scar is so clutch I had to clutch my chest with that mb breath read! Rewind is so impressive, more and more every tournament. Everyone played real well and the matches were so fun to watch. Sonic showed up, every time we call him washed up he actually practices for a month and wins. Every. Time.

The biggest thing to me was that Sonic announced, live on TV, that he's giving money to his friends family to help pay medical bills. Adding to your wealth isn't as important as health. Great message for people to hear from our community and I'm here for it!

This is a great results thread and I really appreciate you going out of your way to not spoil the end result. Thanks a lot dude!

And it was a pretty damn hype event in my opinion. Sonic winning using mostly joker and a bit of cold and manta is crazy.

I really wanted to see a tweedy and sonic run back though, I feel robbed! I feel bad for Tweedy, I feel like he wanted this more than anyone and has put a lot of work in. I’m sure in his mind anything less than an appearance in GF was a L. And watching Grr lose was heartbreaking.

Great event though!

And I also am blown away by sonic donating 10k to rewind. I really like sonic a lot, a very classy gesture.

The one thing that is consistent after every Injustice event is people saying how great the tourney was. You can read through this thread, read through Twitter, and it’s all the same.

It’s time for people to stop saying the game is dead. Stop trying to force it to be dead. It is alive for as many people as care to watch it, play it, and enjoy it. Whatever that number is, it’s a solid core we can build around.

This is the REAL community. It’s not the dudes from other games who enter the newest hot MK for 4 months and then disappear and bash the game when it’s no longer new. It’s not the dudes who show up once every few months to complain, flame the devs on TYM or Twitter and then disappear.

If you’re excited about this scene, the competition and the storylines we have, wear it proudly. That’s something constructive we can always carry with us into the next game and beyond.

Yeah... IJ2 is still way strong. I would have liked to see some kid of announcement from NRS though. Bethesda might have had nothing, not even a title for Elder Scrolls VI, but they still made a small tease video for e3... NRS should have at least dropped something like that at e3 or IPs finals.

What I love the most about NRS events is that non-nrs players and the cynics and stuff all go on about how unbalanced NRS games are. MKx had more deserve top 10s than any other game while it was around and IJ2 finals had nearly the entire cast represented.

People that say IJ2 is badly balanced or NRS can not balance games are just fucking wrong. There is no discussion here. No game has had a roster representation like that last broadcast.

i agree with some. play whatever you want. play inj2 forever if you want (like me with umk3)
you should understand though, that inj2 is indeed dead for some. if you would live in eu for instance, you would understand what i mean. sure its nice that guys in the us (which are getting paid and competing for lots of $$$$) still play the game and provide amazing matches. i like that too ;D
mortal kombat is the carrier of our scene and community, period.
nrs should never stop to support mk even with sidegames as injustice running in addition.
nrs should do like capcom with street fighter imo.

one last thing i forgot to mention. im gonna explain you why "INJUSTICE" is not an very popular game WITHIN the FGC. it started back then with mkvsdc! that shit was an horrifying, laughable trash-game, as we know. i remember that a lot of people were exiting and waiting for that game, like myself, but it was trash. so, since then nrs/midway and dc became a joke, as a said within the fgc. igau came out and it was trash too (vanilla igau). i know after some patches the game become playable but it was too late, nobody took that game/franchise serious anymore with the exception of nrs players. do you guys remember igau at evo? they booed the game.

so there you have why injustice is a lesser popular game in the fgc no matter how many millions of copys of the game were sold to casuals and randoms.

if u arent an og who were playing competitive pre mkvsdc then dont even bother.

I will leave my seal on you!
What an amazing event it was from all aspects, everyone had done an excellent job, huge kudos to all of them.

Huge kudos to Sonic Fox for taking it all. Really wanted Happy Pow to win, or at least Tweedy with his Starfire, George with his Leonardo or Basics with his Starfire. But regardless, all the players gave their all and they all deserve credit, and Sonic earned that victory. Also huge respect for him for giving some of his prize money to Rewind so he can help his dad, that goes to show what an awesome dude Sonic is.

IJ2 is not dead at all, like Crimson and others said here, that game is alive and well, NRS are only improving with each game and they are not looking to slow down. Everyone who says otherwise or says stuff to deny that, are just in pure denial and/or don't want NRS game to succeed and these people should be ignored. MKX is still alive, IJ2 is still alive, and MK11 is gonna be nothing short of incredible.

Now there are only two mysteries left: The first one is, when NRS are finally gonna reveal MK11?

And the second one, why and when @16 Bit decided to change his look?

In any case, amazing event, hands the fucking down.
