Black Manta General Discussion "I brought a hook to hang you from."

if he had "true" mixups he would be broken, anti zoners shouldnt out rush normal rushdown chars, just like flash shouldnt have a projectile evade and deadshot needed his rushdown nerfed

his hkd oh is not that easy to read, and manta is partially an oki character so that hkd is valuable
 
It seems like when fire up trait and immediately cancel, he becomes invulnerable to mids at least for a short time. Can anyone else try this?

Can anybody explain to me why Manta's grab range seems to be non existant? Even at point blank range half the time that shit whiffs, he has got to have the worst grab range in the game

His grab works just fine for me, most of the time. Maybe your timing is off.
It defiantly works wonders after landing a normal rocket. The rocket stun gives you enough time to dash forward and connect a grab.
 
When you do flight cancel in the middle of a combo, it counts as an attack and adds to the damage scaling. Is this intended behavior?

I'd guess they intended to scale it but it feels poorly implemented, you can do some crazy swaggy stuff if you work trait into combos more but the optimal stuff is pretty much always the simplest stuff.

It isn't much, but it's some corner mind games.
After the first s2d3 rocket, the float 2 rocket on that side would be blocked and countered easily with a d2 so i dont see that part being useful but you can try to j2 rocket cross up after the s2d3 rocket.
If the cross up reset is blocked you are screwed anyway.

Not ever 50/50 is meant to be safe.

Ok guys seriously, i do not know whats the deal. I seen this reos vid



but trait + up direction does not work at all .

when i try it and trait + switch stance ( L2 is the button in the move list for canceling float )it does not help as well.

First of all i have to press switch stance twice to cancel and then he falls down to the ground so quickly, that im not able to do any air normal

Any advice with this? Inputs? Or was this somehow nerfed

You mean like how Reo does it in his video?

Try not to click Up and 4 at the same time, just take it slow. When you go into practice mode with instant air sorta things, I like to just make sure I get the move out.

So when I was doing this for the first time I would jump and do the jetpack reaaalllyyy late. It wasn't instant air at all but it's just getting muscle memory down.

Then once you're comfortable with that, just try and activate the jetpack a little earlier each time. And keep doing it at the same sorta height until you feel comfortable with it, rinse and repeat.

Hey man how r u? The thing is i cant probably get the buttons right. Reo says 4 and hold up, but also i see l2 (cancel) in the buttons log

The thing is no matter if i press up after trait, i see no diffrence. he is floating to the ground same speed as he would be without me pressing anything

Finally got it guys , i frist activated the jetpack then pressed up and its vice versa

First jump then trait

Thanks for help tho
Yeah you have to jump and immediatly When manta leaves the ground press 4, it‘s not that great of a tech though imo

Agreed just wanted 2 know it, i think manta is hell a cool, fun and good counterpick sometimes, but probably a mid tier character at best imho

No he‘s a really Really good character it‘s just the tech I don‘t find too useful he has better oki options
