My favorite part of the Shazam trailer was when he realized he was bulletproof, had that smile on his face and then instantly switched to serious mode and was like, "You're dead."

I am legit super excited for this movie.

This whole thread hurts my brain. Shazam, as far as we see him now, is probably the best depiction of the character to date. He's a 14 year old kid that just got super powers, that's how he's going to act because he hasnt grown up yet so idk how kid in movie=directed towards kids that's like saying movie about serial killer=directed towards serial killers or hell we'll go with a legit example that's like saying because there are fish people in Aquaman, its directed towards the fish population. This is what Shazam has been for a pretty long time, its been a story about a kid learning to deal with his super powers which is going to include kid hijinks.

So, lets talk about how dumb thinking Black Panther is a rip it Aquaman. During 1966, the year of Black Panther's first appearance, Aquaman was way more focused on just defending Atlantis. I obviously havent read every single issue of Aquaman from the 1960s but if you look at it, he didnt exactly do a lot of integrating with others due to the fact that he was busy beating up random invaders of Atlantis so that point is invalid and, well dumb cuz Black Panther started off in this way. Their own mythology um...that's every comic ever idk how long it took you to pull that on from the depths of your anus but it might be the weakest point. Advanced technology is a similarity, you've got me there. The rest of the points are TECHNICALLY correct. Yea, those similarities exist but if you think Black Panther, a comic book specifically designed and created to be a commentary on how blacks were treated in 1960s America while also giving them a a hero to look up to while tackling specific race issues at the time, is ripping from Aquaman and the often campy defending of Atlantis during the 1960s then I honestly have no clue what you're smoking. Can you give me some? I need to take the edge off.

Marvel and DC have ripped each other off almost since day one.
Who fucking cares?

Zach Levi is awesome, and though I don't care about Shazam as a character, I'm interested to see the movie. It looks fun, and Zach Levi is definitely the reason why it's going to be good.

Aquaman looks cool too... again a character I really don't care about, but Jason Momoa... he's a damn snack and will be the reason why I'm going to watch that movie.

What is cool about these movies is that they don't seem to take themselves all too seriously. Zach Levi and Jason Momoa bring a lot of fun and charm to these characters which is what will save these movies from being just some other cringy DC movies on the pile of many. Even the Titans show seems to be try-hard edgy, but that's not why people love the Teen Titans. A shame, really.

I'm a fan of Zachary Levi and he got some stick for landing the role but looks like he's a great fit.

He also built some serious muscle and looks very good in the suit for that superhero look.

It is better this way
I like Zachary Levi a lot and really liked Chuck, he looks great as Shazam. Both the trailers were great, but not to be a dick- I thought the trailers for Justice League, BvS, and Suicide Squad were great too, so I’m gonna go with cautiously optimistic for now

FTR, Marvel has stolen way more ideas from DC than other way around. Fact.

Yeah I mean to each his own, I don't really think Shazam is aimed at kids but that's just how the character is since he is a kid but quickly learns he has to deal with adult issues whom most people don't have the power to face but he does. That's what makes him interesting. New 52 they made him edgier, this movie seems to be taking cues from pre and new 52 elements with him. They say Black Adam won't be in this movie, but I'm betting he'll have something to do with the post credit scene or it'll have another JL in it.

But yeah YJ season 3 looks sweet, first two seasons were awesome. Also, Titans looks really cool(minus Starfire)

Toxic fans have chased the actress that plays her off social media. Apparently a lot of raciest stuff and complaints she isn't a drop dead babe wearing a skin tight bikini.

I mean I get that she isn't Orange, has a terrible wig, shoots fire instead green star blasts and all that, but when there is a transition into live action you have to realise that a lot of the stuff, just doesn't translate. Would I prefer her orange and shooting green lazer things... sure. Do I care how she looks in the trailer... not really.

Reminds me of what happened with Star Wars fandom... going so crazy and threatening actors so they go off Twitter. What's wrong with people? Why are they so insane?!

Remember that guy who threatened to go home to Shaun Himmerick's wife and daughter and rape them if Reiko wasn't in MKX? Why are people so fucked up in the head that they let their passion for something fictional say or do something like that? There has to be some kind of mental issues involved...

geebus! That has to be a crime saying something like that, a?

You know something funny. Amber Heard actually fought for that, what looks like green paint, costume. Stating that she wanted as comic accurate outfit as possible. The original was more "viking armour" looking stuff... but she wanted that emerald second skin nearly mermaid tail look. Anyway, she got hate from the otherside over it as a gender traitor.

You just can't win with social media. Anyone that uses it is mad imo.

Ah, that's like when Olivia Munn fought for having her Psylocke costume look more accurate to the comics. It was supposed to be black to fit the theme with the others, but she made sure it was purple.

I don't get these directors... it's like they are so focused on making their own vision so "unique" instead of staying true to the source material. When all it does is estranging the fans. I understand getting frustrated as a fan about something like that, but to go all out and attack the actors because of it? That's just insane.

Yeah you see that in Netflix with Punisher and wot not.. it is like they are embarrassed by their comic book roots. We want to make a comic film or TV show.. but kinda downplay the comic stuff. Like Smallville not using the suit or w/e. Or never seeing wolverines yellow outfit.

That is why the new DC Streaming channel is really interesting to me as it is actually WB and DC itself. They have publicly stated that there is no restrictions. So if gotham was on DCU, it could have Batman and Superman show up with no copywrite issues. Basically every DC character is up for grabs. They also said the chan is going to be directly linked to the comics, as in tv shows will have comics and stuff in a kind of multimedia way.

That is why Titans, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol on that service interest me.. it will basically be the 1st chan that is 100% committed to the characters, and unashamed to BE comic like. Unlike say CW or w/e.

I'm watching Young Justice right now. Along with many other of DC's animated shows and movies, it's really good. It's their live-action movies and shows that are being incredibly lacking.

Though I liked Nolan's Batman movies and the Wonder Woman movie (again a character I don't care about), all the others have just been... bad. Mostly because they are trying too hard to be not-Marvel movies, going the try-hard edgy path instead, avoiding any sort of humour... And that's why I think the Aquaman and Shazam movies are going to be just fine, because they actually look like entertaining superhero movies.

That's just my point of view though. But just saying... there's a reason why DC haven't had much success in their cinematic universe...

ye I was coming back to edit that but forgot lol.

It fits under what you're talking about with the whole going-against-the-mainstream hero movie sorta thing but then you see movies like Logan which don't really fit as your typical superhero movie and is pretty grim looking for the majority of the movie. Obv it's different from stuff like JL since Logan also had an absolutely incredible story and a following to boot with Wolverine/Xmen movies.

I think DC not introducing their characters very well like Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman etc was kinda a bad idea, like Avengers came out after we'd had a movie for basically all the main heroes aside from like Hawkeye and Black Widow but like you get the idea.

And then stuff like Ezra Miller Flash was just really sorta hard to watch... Not his fault really (Aside from his running stance like wtf is that) but like some of the lines he had felt super forced into the movie like "What is brunch?" and it's just sorta cringe.

And then suicide squad has it's own whole thing of issues like just Jared Leto joker for one reason of another, but I guess he had pretty big shoes to fill coming off the back of Heath Ledger Joker.

And it's basically just lots of little to moderately sized things like that. Like was it just me or did Batfleck basically feel like he was a complete side grade to every other hero? Like Batman's such a fave imo since he's the underdog of the JL, he's the only one without powers he's just a rich guy who also happens to be a martial artist and smart but like he never really did anything too crazy.... And don't even get me started on how Superman basically just rocked up to the final fight and 1vX'd everything. Flash saves 4 people? Superman saves 100. Aquaman and Wowo struggling to beat Steppenwolf? Superman fights him 1v1 and basically wins, could've done it solo if we wanted to.

Shoulda called it Superman and the Justice League

/endrant, imo, etc etc

Bad storywriting... that is basically the problem with a lot of these DC movies and shows.
Also, having a character like Superman who is just too OP... yeah, never liked him.

Love Batman and the Batmanverse, but Ben Affleck's Batman is just... not good either.
He has the personality of a piece of wet cardboard, and it shows in his movies.

Eh I'd take his over Bale's but it's a pretty close spot. Bale was never the reason I liked the Nolan series anyway.

I kinda like how they took a sorta darker tone for the movie(s) but I don't think is was a good idea to
  1. Do it as your first set of movies
  2. Not have movies for the half of the characters
  3. Some of the lines in the movies, JL and BvS likewise, were just... bad, imo.
I enjoyed Wowo movie and I thought Man of Steel was good enough to be relevant. Like MoS is just there, like it's a cool movie idk what else to say about it personally

Ezra Miller flash can give me a red hot miss too but anyways both these movies look pretty lit

Hawkeye and Black Widow had both been established as characters and given screentime before Avengers. Nothing massive, but they weren't exactly a massive part of the movie either.

Ezra Miller's Flash is incredibly cringey, but the only thing even worse is his interview. He prides himself on how much he shaped the character and invented a lot of the dialogue off cuff for him, so yeah it's not fair to excuse him from that criticism.
