I'm so hype on Ruby, that is a def main, I just have to figure out who I want to partner her with and I'm Gucci. I'm probably going to pick some gg character lol...unless they announce more RWBY. :0

I'm now hijacking this as the official Cross-Tag post. Please play the song below before posting

So what are your teams? Running Noel because I've been playing her longer than Tom Brady put up with Sub-Zero and Yukiko because she was the Persona 4 waifu for me. Works pretty well as long as Yukiko dies first.

Aegis/Tager baby!

Game is super fun, has the aspect of simplicity that DBFZ has but there's way more character variety

Characters I've played the most so far are:

Yukiko Amagi: She's a zoner who can control a lot of angles with her fans. She has a really cool move where she explodes a ring of fire at different parts of the screen and if she hold the button down she can delay it. She also has this fire pillar move. All of the Persona characters in general are cool with the Jojo Stands. The thing that really makes her cool to me is that her DP heals her health and she can buff herself to increase the damage of her fire attacks. She can buff herself up to 9 levels and it gives her a huge boost on the higher end. One of her assists is her healing move so she's got a cool meta there.

Aegis: She reminds me of Tekken's Alisa, which is a good thing. She just got added but I've really been enjoying her. She's got some nice zoning options with her 5B/2B, mini guns and her cannon. The cannon is neat because you can choose when to explode your shot and create a momentary trap. On top of some other moves she has this unique mechanic where she can cancel moves into "Destruction Mode" which is basically like this super low air dash that she can cancel into jump normals. She can also just do it in neutral. She has a meter for that recharges automatically and when you cancel a normal/special with it costs two bars of her unique meter. So she has this unique resource that allows her to get sick mixups and pressure as well as more combo ability such as her being able to full combo off of her sweep without normal meter or an assist. So she's got some zoning but has some good mobility and mixups. She's a fun character and I really enjoy the Persona character's animations in general. Very cool.

Iron Tager: Holy shit Iron Tager is a god damn boss! Dude has no dash, no run, no double jump, he's slow as hell... He's like, "What's anime? This is WWF No Mercy! Get command thrown!" With 6 throws, 2 air throws and two armored normals he's BBTag's premiere grappler. He's got a nice quick command throw for up close and on oki, but then he has an EX version of it that sucks the opponent in a bit, making it effectively have more range, it's almost like a kara throw in SF. He also has wedge catapult which sucks opponents in from some nice distance, has armor and you can get full combos off of it. He also a nice air throw, and then an air throw like wedge catapult that sucks airborne opponents in for a full combo. Almost all of his grabs and big combos can be ended in Gadget Finger where he restands you for more fun. He also has some cool moves that are projectile immune and this very useful Meter-only projectile that grants a combo as well. He's super badass and he's been the stand out character of the game for me.

Both my main teams had Tager in the back in Yukiko/Tager and Aegis/Tager and I've enjoyed both of them. I often find zoners and grapplers to be fun but they don't seem to hold my attention for too long, but being able to play both of them at once essentially is really awesome. Overall I've been really enjoying this game.

It's all so very confusing.
I mean, go for it?
I own the game, though Ive only played a little. I said I wasn't gonna buy it, but then felt guilty about not being supportive, so here we are. I was just questioning the "please don't post if you haven't played" statement.. I'm genuinely not trying to be contentious, it's just that it's common place for people to ask questions or just take part in discussions, whether they have played or not.

Anyway,

If I ever sit down and take it seriously I'll probably do something with Blake, strictly 'cause awesome. Carmine, Gord-i-dont-know-how-to-spell-it-oh, Vatista (not my normal type of character), and one or two others look interesting as my second.

The game looks great, if a tad too manic, but the sort of "do what you want" engine/mechanic/ability interaction is pretty damn cool.

I just have some worries. Time will tell me whether they are caste of anything solid, or if I'm just being negative. My primary worry is that the game is going to be a very one-player experience, where a scramble-y neutral turns into a twitch reflex race for a confirm into a combo exhibition. There isn't anything inherently wrong with that style, Skullgirls (ive heard changes have made it not so much thst way now) and MvC3 have similar styles, but my personal tastes are different. Love watching, dislike playing, games of that type.

Again, I could be totally missing the mark here, and Im not claiming the game IS that, just that I worry its a possibility. The games open-ended nature is it's biggest strength but that comes with caveats of it's own.

Ohhhh, sorry, my bad dude. I mean the song. the game does have some issues for sure, I feel like it would have been better if it had more than 2 attack buttons

I was hard on the fence on if to get the game or not. I have most of the anime fighters, and I like them. I'm not good at them, but I'm a sucker for anime anything really and most of them are super cool games.

They don't always have the largest player base though (sans the DBFZ anomaly). Some of that could be fragmentation in that some people are BB and some GG, but I kind of feel it's a fan service game to a minority. I suppose it could tie together some groups, but I'm having a hard time seeing how the game ends up enduring on its own.

Now that people are playing it, does it have enough identity to stand on its own? There are a lot of really excellent anime fighters on the market in current play, why would someone invest in this over just playing BB or Unist?

...and yes, I did play the song first.

I'm not counting the clash button since that's extremely situational
C has just as many normals attached to it as B does, it just has no string. Its the button for sweep and heavy jump attack which will both be used often. It's also the button for EX sprcials. Though that's not really something worrh getting hung up on anyway.

Yea I don't think pulling these characters from different games is doing them any favors with hit/hurt box stuff, I'm noticing some inconsistencies with Tager combos on certain characters and it's not just a matter of small vs. big hitboxes. But it's a fighting game so there's bound to be some wacky shit with that.

I picked up the game yesterday because I can't resist Yang and her 'I burn' theme that turns on when your semblance is activated.
Do you have any tips for effective partners for Yang? So far I heard Hakumen because that way you can combo off of Yang's command grab, Yukiko because she can heal Yang back after she gets on low health to activate semblance, Blake because her projectile pulls the enemy closer and ofc Ruby who is a jack of all trades.

This is an interesting game, I'll give it that. The answer to "will this work?" Is essentially always yes.

I also like how most combos are variations on the band ABBA's name.

Abba abababba ababababbaab
Aaaabbbbbbaaaaabbbaababbababaa
Babababbaba
2aaabbaaaaaaaaabaaabbbaaaa2bbbaaaa
Baababbbbaaaab

"What's the best way to practice combos in this game?"

"Sound 'em out!"

I play Makoto/Yang.

Yang is similar to Blazblue's Bullet, gameplay-wise. Since her CG has a gap, you can cover that with any assist, as long as this assist has multi-hit. You CAN combo off it only at Empowered State.

With Yang, as Makoto I can reach 12k DMG with Cross Combo and specials.

I got Deluxe Edition for PC for 40 euros. There was a good offer from a site that gave me that chance.

edit: So far, as I saw some videos, Hakumen and Jubei (Blazblue), Gordeau, Carmine and Vatista (Under Night In-Birth Ex Late[st]) are legit broken.

Uncle JBeezY just board the BB train and I must say, I am hella enjoying this ride thus far. Part of getting good at fighters is doing your research and I've noticed some key things.

1) Jin is the Vegeta in this game. Apparently, he's the best anchor thus far from what Ive seen the pros use because Resonance increases not only your health gradually but your strength as well, and that includes chip damage. Jin's 236 BC super where he throws that fast Ice move full screen does the GREATEST amount of chip damage in the game that basically puts you at 1 pixel in a blink of a fucking eye! You cannot die from chip damage in this game, but you're practically dead with 1 health.

2) Ruby is kinda like the Cell in this game. She's easy to use, her combos are damaging, and she has all the tools to take on a team by herself. Partnered with Jin is the most commonly used team to use if you wanna win. That team is deadly as fuck.

3) Netcode is fucking RIGHTEOUS! But as you kids will say....Godlike!

Very fun to play game. As always, I choose the weirdest combination. So as of now, Uncle JBeezY is rocking with Platinum and Carmine. As a beginner I already got a happy birthday super finish and it was the best fucking feeling EVER!!

And I noticed Jin's weakness as Makoto. If you have a multihit projectile, like Makoto's orb, it can absorb Jin's Ice Sword projectile and attack back. Some projectiles and AA can deal against him. And Jin's projectile is slow AF. Some projectiles can act as AA at the right angle and distance.

I haven't played against Ruby as to figure out her weakness.

Blake's weakness is that she has no AA tools, so as Yang (or someone else) you can spam air zoning. A good Blake main would do a A2A attack to compensate for her missing AA tools, because her arsenal of weapons control all distances.

BTW, in the Team Sp00ky BBTAG tourney I saw them using Jin/Blake, but nobody noticed their weaknesses. There were a few that used Aegis, Carmine, Ruby, Makoto, Hakumen, and Tager/Wald ( @CrazyFingers ).

EDIT Ive noticed ppl substituting Blake for Ruby in their teams. So more so Blak/Jin combo will be somewhat the new tourny meta.

But Blake DOES have an AA from what Ive been seeing. Its not fast, but its more of a distance attack. I wanna say her Jump Medium where she swings that....whatever fucking whip weapon that is. But she has it because Ive seen it used to extend her combos.

Haven't really seen a Makoto yet....not even online. Then again Ive only played around 10 matches
