Brazil died on the second half but that referee made me regret rooting for Mexico earlier today. He ended up having the most impact on the game out of everyone on field.

LET'S GO BELGIUM

For the record, we haven't discussed much which teams we're rooting for. So mine are:
Mains: Brazil, Belgium
Secondaries (I just want to see them do well): Iceland, Egypt.

It appears the Mexican coach did his homework and studied how Frankfurt beat Bayern. Coincidence? maybe not. The Mexicans looked very german in their attacks handing Germany their first opening group loss since 1982.

Well done Belgium!

Showed their quality in the 2nd half. I expect a lot more to come from them. Top 4 at least.

Walker is an idiot he just gave away a free penalty.
Kane deserves the second goal for not getting 2 penalties after being slammed into the ground. He's easily the best player in the team. Any club would love to have him IMO.

I'd like to see more yellow cards dispensed. The amount of tactical fouls, shady and purposeful delays of game are blatant actions taken to thwart fast counterattacks.

Every time you forfeit the ball and immediately YOLO-press the ball carrier and make a wild challenge on the ball with no hopes of making contact with it, there needs to be a yellow card if you plow down the ball carrier. These are instant tactical fouls that don't get carded. Players are doing these all the fkn time because if you let the counterattack get started, another player on your team down the field is forced to make the tactical foul and get a guaranteed yellow card.

Every time a player from the foul committing team touches the ball after the whistle (kick it backwards, pick it up and not give it to the opposing team's player, stand in front of the grounded ball to prevent quick free kicks etc), there needs to be a yellow card. They know damn well they are purposely stopping the opposition from taking a quick free kick up the field and they are giving their team mates valuable seconds to get back into defensive positions and park the fkn 9-man bus at the edge of their box. Same shit happens with throw-ins as well occasionally.

Ronaldo is on a fucking mission in this tournament. I'm starting to think that he might actually carry Portugal all the way to the end.

Idk but I feel like if Ronaldo can take his team to the finals he is gonna get another player of the year title and he can be considered in soccer what Lebron is in basketball. If he ends up winning it I can see a case being made for GOAT. I find both very very unlikely, but I also thought he would never be able to take Portugal far in the 2016 euro and they ended up taking it.

Unless Ronaldo and Portugal win the World Cup, Messi is a lock for another player of the year. Ronaldo won the champions league, but Messi won la liga, golden boot, liga mvp, most assists, and top European goal scorer. Not to mention he single handedly qualified Argentina to the World Cup in the first place. One cup will never beat out getting out scored, out played, out assisted, out trophied in everything else. It's apples and oranges, but yea it's Messi.

By one cup I mean the only thing Ronaldo won this season, the champions, not the World Cup because this cup yea is like 100 ligas or 50 champions worth.
Also I don't know why some people see it difficult for Portugal to win this year, they have a strong team, one of the 2 best players in the world, and have played very well, which other top team would you pick to beat Portugal? None has looked impressive, I think it's very possible for him to win the World Cup.
