MK11: Which Characters do you think won't return?

If the kombat kidz are returning, have their parents be NPCs. Kenshi can stay, though, I guess.

The Cage bloodline withholds the power to defeat elder gods.
I really like the "descendant of warriors bred for the gods" thing but I thought it was a little much that Cassie beat Shinnok after he absorbed the Jinsei. I feel like he should be too OP at that point. Maybe they could have had Evil Raiden go in there for a fight. It even kind of felt like Raiden should have been the final boss. I don't know, just feel like it could have been handled a bit better. That said I look forward to what that ending will give us and by god was that post credits scene badass.

Yeah it was silly writing to make Cassie defeat corrupted shinnok, i guess they just wanted to make it obvious that Cassie fully inherent the Cage power and can now replace (or even surpass) her father's strength. About Raiden, I believe they're saving him for next game.

The way mkx ended was so hype, Dark Raiden could be the main antagonist in the next game or they just made him more aggressive and powerful so he can face whoever is going to be the next threat to earth realm. My guess would be Onaga, if you read the comic you'll see that Goro will probably be the next vessel to bring Onaga back.

Perhaps Raiden will keep all the kamidogus with him this time and obliterate anyone who seeks to take hold of them to revive Onaga.

I'm calling it. Special forces gonna support Raiden, and the Lin Kuei White lotus etc are gonna start a civil war.

I'm slowly but surely accepting the possibility that all the twatty kids will return...probably with their parents too even though the whole point was to ease everyone away from them lol.

I just hope they aren't shoved down our gullets again in story. A lot of fans of obscure characters are still waiting for due limelight, not to mention popular classics who continuously get shafted in story since the reboot (Ermac, Reptile, Kitana, ect). Let's let someone else shine for a while.

Positive Poster!
Ferret Whore - nobody cares about this character.

Quan - Ded, thank fuck. Hope he retains this good habit of his.

Shanook- Ran his course, got rekt, I want to see his head in a jar in a background used as an interactable you can throw at your enemy and then a brutality with it that he eats your face and begins to grow his body back so the victor stomps the head to prevent it from happening.

Jaxette - Boring character

Chump Jim - Irritating prick, I hope that Jaxette, him and...

Takeda - ... will get wrecked in an intro so that Cassie can have a reason to go postal.

Aaron Beck - I'd rather see Noob Saibot back tbh.

I liked D'Vorah but her returning also seems like an ice clone's chance on Scorpion's stage.

They should just kill off all of the kombat kids in the opening cinematic so we can play as their superior parents without having to worry about overlapping movepools.

I'm a lover, not a fighter
Mileena is out. She will be DLC... mark my words on this one :p She is a favorite of mine, but she will not be in the initial roster.

Also definitely out is Tanya, Kung Jin, Quan Chi, Shinnok. Kung Jin was not a good character concept to begin with and was very unpopular. Tanya annoyed people to the point that most people hated her (apart from us Tanya fans who loooooved her!). The other two died in pretty dramatic ways.

Most likely out is Sonya (Johnny is too popular), Ferra Torr (not popular) and Goro

I think they did F/T a massive disservice by not giving them their own chapter. Their story line was good and the character concept is great, but their story just wasn't explored sufficiently.

Meanwhile, the worst thing in the world would be if Kitana, Mileena and Tanya were all not in the game. Noooooo!

I can't imagine a Mortal Kombat release that doesn't include Mileena. Also, being dead didn't prevent the Joker from reappearing on the Injustice 2 roster.

Ferra/Torr is most definitely not returning. I highly doubt Jaqui will be returning. I expect to see only one of either Kung Jin or Takeda.

Otherwise, I think it is a pretty safe bet that all MK1&2 characters will be returning, minus Baraka, of course. It's NRS tradition at this point, and the last time they attempted to cut out some of their earliest and most iconic characters in MK3, it wasn't very well-received. Doing so again would be shooting themselves in the foot for no reason, and I don't see NRS as a developer that has climbed so far up their owm asshole that they believe they can replace them.

Erron and Kotal will be back for sure. D'Vorah is 50/50. I don't see Tremor returning, but IIRC the plotline involving Rain and Tanya was incomplete and was intended to serve as a setup to the next MK installment, so I see a high probability that they will not only be returning, but will be in some way central to the plot.

And this is the problem when it comes to not just MK, but fighting game sequels in general. People tend to want the usual suspects all the time rather than more variety in the rosters. I'm not one of those to buy or not buy a game for 1 or 2 characters, but when most of the post Trilogy characters keep getting shafted in favor for the same Trilogy characters, it gets boring and stale. The initial roster for MKX just ended up being MK9 + 8 new characters & Shinnok. The only post Trilogy characters that weren't in MK9 were Bo Rai Cho and Tanya whom were DLC.

Personally instead of always relying on nostalgia, I think NRS should include more characters that debuted in MK4-MKD and see which ones can be improved upon. Like Fujin, Reiko, Li Mei, Frost, Havik and Sareena. And also bring Skarlet back.

It is better this way
I know Sub will be back so I’m already good, I’ll have my main no doubt.

My other favorites like Johnny, Tremor, Cassie, Kung Lao, Kenshi, and Kotal have a good chance for the most part.

I am hoping that Johnny, Sonya, Kano and Jax aren't returning.
Since MKX was kind a "pass the torch to the new generation" story, I see no reason to bring any of those four back. Why Kano though? Because he has no reason to be in the game either. He's always just been kinda there, not really ever having done anything throughout the series. And now that Sonya finally has him imprisoned, I feel it is about time to just end their stories with that.

And who knows, maybe Kano's MKX Arcade Ladder turns out to be true and he'll turn out to have a son to replace him. It'll be a cop-out for sure, but should that be the case, I hope he won't just be a Kano 2.0... we already had trash like that with Jarek in MK4.

I'm also high-key hoping Jacqui won't be in MK11, but that's just because I think she's utterly uninteresting. Should she return (which she most likely will along with the other Kombat Kids), I hope NRS are at least going to give her a personality. She was like wet cardboard in MKX.

Then we have Mileena... I think she will return somehow, considering she is so popular a character. If not on the main roster, then as DLC or unlockable somehow.

I strongly disagree. I feel as though there should always be a core of central characters who are sure to return with nearly every release when it comes to fighting games. MK without too many of these characters simply isn'f MK. Street Fighter without Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Bison isn't Street Fighter. Etc..

Also, 8 new characters is actually a lot.

I'm inclined to agree. I think the core cast should always be present, however, that core should be relatively small. Fan favorites should always appear since fighting games are, at this point, very heavily reliant on fanservice.

That being said, I feel like WB (and maybe NRS) treat the 3D-era characters/games like the Star Wars prequels, and try to pretend they mostly don't exist since they have a really bad reputation. It makes me sad because there's a lot of good in those games, and lots of fun and original characters that have fans and deserve another chance in the spotlight. In the end, there needs to be a balance between staples, a rotation of less popular characters being reimagined, and some new guys to make the game feel fresh. Hopefully NRS doesn't take any extreme measures.
