Positive Things About MKX Thread

My thirst for knowledge cannot be quenched
Tanya and her extraordinary variations, I'd rather to hear a strong voice like she had in the previous games but Jennifer Hale doesn't sound too bad

Duuh, of course its my opinion. Just to be sure though, a Mortal Kombat champion who who is a Shaolin monk is more bland than a girl in a military suit with a gun?
Yeh, the archetype of an asian super dude who's a monk is way more bland to me than a military girl. And she was so fun to play in all of her variations. Except for shotgun after that absurd nerf.

The fact that they went 18 months trying to remedy their initial concept of the gameplay seems encouraging.

Couldn't completely do it and there was some obvious awkwardness that led to dilemmas. But there's only so much you could do with the sort of DNA that MKX had from concept.

You can't just "undo" everything after the fact. But the fact that they tried to change direction so drastically mid-game, makes MK11 prospects hopeful to me.

The fact that every gore related thing kept being specific to what character you're playing e.g. Predator and green blood/skull shape.

Except Jax's arms still bleed and tails sometimes interact weird. But still cool

Eh idk about that. I always felt the sound of f121 is way too... woodeny.

Agree to disagree I guess.
It's been a while so honestly don't remember what I thought of something like F121 but I thought all of his rock based moves sounded great. The ground pounds in his unblockable(DOOH DOOH DOOOOH) and some of his quake normals like D4/B33 were great. Take his Rock Punch, you had the Crystalline crystal version, the stone Aftershock version, the gold Metallic version and lava Metallic version, each with an appropriate sound to it. Things like his shatter cancels sounded cool and then you got stuff like his Flex Armor which sounded so clean. And his voice was badass. Obviously sound design is very subjective even compared to something like gameplay but I really thought Tremor was exceptional in that regard.

I will say I definitely think MKX had better sound then Injustice 2 but part of that may be because MKX was meant to be violent as hell so the hits sounded more satisfying.

- Graphics in MKX were beautiful, really liked the colors in a lot of the stages (Jinsei Chamber), and characters.
- Some character designs were awesome (Dvorah, Tremor, some of the alt skins were ridiculously nice as well).
- Sound effects were great on attacks (The music was ass, however).

It is better this way
Another thing I really liked is the comics. They got me hyped for the story mode (which swiftly let me down lol) and were really good. Kotal, Scorpion, the Cage family, D’Vorah, Sub-Zero, and Takeda all got great moments in it and fleshed out those characters way better than MK9 and MKX ever managed to and actually made me care about what happens to these characters.

There were some pretty cool issues for characters we never see much from. I remember one issue in particular where Reptile was talking about how emo he was about being such a shit jobber and losing every story fight, which we’ve all thought about the Reptiles/Kanos/Barakas of the world and it was cool to see it as an actual plot point that these characters are aware they’re underpowered, it kinda makes them more interesting to me

I give you Kotal's stuff being cool, especially Sun God. But if you compare the metal sounds in MK9 and Inj to the ones in MKX you'll see what I'm talking about them going downhill. Kung Jin's stick sounds are appropriate and there's nothing to compare them against from previous games so that's good.

I hated MKX Subzero design so I can't be impartial about it. Tremor's sound effects outside Crystalline's shattering sounds are BAD. He's supposed to be a rock body but all his hits sound like knocking on wood. It's VERY VERY VERY bad.
Dude I think your ears have a problem. Sektor's missile sounding like goo, Tremor sounding like wood?? Maybe in the Metallic variation Lava mode it kind of does if you stretch your imagination far enough.
I agree that the heavy clanking metal sounds from MK9 were awesome and better, but the other, weaker, metallic hitsounds weren't quite up to par. Sounded like you were pounding on some cheap metal rather than a state-of-the-art cyborg ninja.

I kinda see the tremor and sektor parts. Not to the extent where it sounds like he's hitting wood but it sure doesn't sound like smacking someone in the face with what essentially constitutes to a rock. Not like it sounds bad or anything it just sounds like a regular punch to me. His actual rock moves sound like rocks hitting though

Sektor's missiles just sound kinda... funny considering he's literally shooting a fucking rocket from his chest and/or back. Maybe it's because he's a ninja he needs stealth rockets?

But hey, that's not positive about MKX. Think about the fact you can even play as a fucking cyborg ninja who shoots rockets. Eh? EH??

Still the best getting mauled in the corner simulator I've ever played. Story mode was a let down, but the amount of personality and dialogue they packed into the fights, who cares. Also, brutalities. Seriously, why doesn't Inj2 have brutalities, even if it was just like weird stage kills like Killer Instinct. NRS should never do anything else without brutalities. Ever.

I loved the pace of the game. It felt so aggressive like a Mortal Kombat game should be. Run is unfairly maligned as by the end of the game the stamina penalty for getting hit out of it balanced it out.

i like the slow deliberate pace of Injustice. I also like the frantic and aggressive pace of MKX.
