Have the details behind an upcoming MK11 trailer leaked? (SPOILER: Probably not)

We are returned! Death to the False Emperor!
NRS games are no stranger to leaks. Or, more pertinently, Mortal Kombat is no stranger to leaks. While the NRS team manage to hold onto some secrets, the days of Reptile in MK1 are long gone and significant details leaked about MK9 and MKX.

MK9 had the data-mining issue with the demo, which revealed everything about the game including the much vaunted story mode script and revealed Cyber Sub Zero in possibly the least underwhelming way possible (though equally possibly the best for the blood pressure of lore guys, like me), whereas MKX had the entire roster leak late in January.

The source is very dubious but it may seem that leaks have already started on the MK11, with supposed details of an upcoming trailer, supposedly set for release at the beginning of E3 on June 12th, being shared here https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/191336-injustice-2/76382679

The details are as follows:

The trailer will begin with a voice giving a very brief explanation of how MKX ended & Shinnok being defeated. The screen fades to black with lightning striking every few seconds. A pair of glowing red eyes pop up fairly quickly & then the infamous dragon logo will appear.

A clip that I can only assume is taken from the new story mode appears & shows our new generation of hero’s with Cassie, then both Takeda & Jacqui, then lastly Kung Jin. All are breathing heavily and seem to have experienced battle damage, they are covered with blood & clothes ripped (their redesigns look badass but still retain their original designs from MKX).

Black & lightning appear again: Another clip with the big boys then shows. That right Sub-Zero & Scorpion, they have aged slightly with some gray in their hair & beards (Sub looks slightly older than Scorp & but their redesigns remain true to how they recently looked). They begin to use their weapons to take down some foes, however you don’t see the characters they are beating down. Sub-Zero has his ice sword while Scorpion has his iconic kunai. They look at eachother & nod their heads & battle on. You hear some slicing and blood splattering screams, then fade to black/lightning again.

The red glowing eyes appear once more & we get a 1-2 second glimpse of what seem to be 2 newcomers with the lightning striking once again. (I have looked trough every MK character and none fit the description). The male character was holding a weapon that looked like two Kusarigama’s. His skin was tan, with a large scar on his chest & his eyes glowed blue. The female had long black hair with a bright green stripe in her hair, her fists were glowing green along with eyes (NO it’s not Jade).

The screen fades black one last time with lightning striking. We then see 2 sets of glowing eyes appear. One pair is yellow & the red eyes appear once more. Raiden appears from the shadows (Dark Raiden design is similar to MKX). A glimpse of the red eyed fighter appears and its Kotal Kahn (sporting a much more intimidating/menacing design than MKX).

A voice states “This rebellion will shatter the realms!” Multiple yellowish eyes appear behind Kotal with a lightning flash & the screen goes to black. The PS4, Xbox One & PC logos appear with Koming 2019 along with the WB & Netherrealm logos at the bottom.
With the leaker claiming the following at the beginning of his 'leak':

Yes I know what you are thinking, yet another bogus leak here. I understand the doubts. I want to say that I have leaked many things in the past for other titles however due to a heavy backlash on opinions & the trails of getting my account back from being temporary suspended, I figured I’d start fresh. Yeah, yeah no one will believe me but whatever. Take it as you will.
So, what do we make of that?

For my part, I'm extremely doubtful.

It's a safe bet that Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda and Kung Jin will all return to story mode at least (and it would be a surprise if at least 3, if not all 4, weren't playable), Kotal Kahn is embedded into the story of MK and the return of Raiden, Scorpion and Sub Zero is as predictable as clockwork (prove me wrong Ed).

No predictions are made regarding updated designs, with every character suspiciously said to look exactly like their MKX design but more 'badass'. Ahem.

The two new characters are described as plain in the extreme, and considering that the first new characters revealed in MKX were all extremely eye catching for various reasons (design-wise for Kotal, Ferra/Torr and D'Vorah and surname-wise for Cassie), it would represent a break in tradition for Netherrealm to step away from eye catching new characters.

It's also worth noting that NRS precedent is not releasing a trailer at E3. It's actually releasing a trailer shortly before E3, with Ed presenting gameplay and a very rough demo at the showpiece event.

It's also worth noting E3 is still the better part of two months away.

My verdict:

Bullshit until proven otherwise. It's almost certainly nonsense made up to sound believable because lying on the internet is how some people get their kicks. Takes all sorts I suppose, but I get mine from yachts, sports cars and supermodels.

There is one positive thing we can definitely take from this, however.

Even if the 'leak' is nonsense, as it certainly appears to be.....when supposed leaks about the trailers are starting to show up, you know we're getting close to showtime.

Eeeek.

As always check back to TYM every day for all the latest on whatever NRS have in the pipeline, Mortal Kombat, Injustice and everything NRS!

Too bad YOU... will DIE!
You dont make a trailer for something 2 months before you are going to release said trailer, that dude sucks and now looks like a tool
This dude is almost certainly lying, but you absolutely do make a trailer 2 months before you're going to release it lmao. How long do you think that takes to model and render? A long time, is what.

Another thing that seems fishy to me is the mention of showing the PC logo.

For those who recall, Mortal Kombat X launched on PC along with the console versions and it was a disaster. The PC port had continued issues for well over a year until Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment hired a higher quality developer (QLOC) to clean up the port and bring the XL content to it.

Injustice 2 did not launch on PC with the console versions, but was all but stealth released several months later. Apparently there was a quiet Steam announcement about a PC version beta, and the game launched a week later!

I would suspect the next Mortal Kombat game to launch on PC in a similar fashion to Injustice 2; which would mean no PC logos in any early media if at all.

Of course, we'll see in time.

Fujin and Ermac for MK 11
Sounds shady because Sub-Zero and Scorpion aren't fighting each other lol. But I do hope the trailer teaser soon before E3 rumor will happen.
