I personally liked unlocking new moves in Injustice 2. I hope the do the same for MK11 but allow them in Tournaments.

Like a majority of you. I picked a variation I liked and stayed with it.

Instead of balancing 90+ Kharacter Variations NRS can spend more time making more Stages!!!

I believe there was a leak from the same guy(s) who leaked the whole IJ2 cast on 4chan before it came out. They said the variations will be coming back.

Got a link to said leak? You might be thinking about a bogus MK11 'leak' that came from Reddit, rather than 4chan.

If the Gear System becomes an MK11 thing, I want it to be purely aesthetic! No stats, no lootboxes, no trash like that. However, I LOVE character customization! Being able to alter a character's costume with different parts of gear was the only part of the gear system I liked in I2.

I wasn't a big fan of Variations, mostly because some of them felt very hammed in. I admit, being a Jade fan, seeing Kitana had just been given Jade's special moves while Jade was nowhere to be seen at all except for some cameo... it stung deeply. Should the Variation system return, I hope each character will just have 2 each, so we will have more characters.

So with only 2 Variations per character and the Gear System being purely aesthetical, I see no reason why we can't have both.

Instead of balancing 90+ Kharacter Variations...
...you're suggesting them to balance a metric ton of variations you can have with tournament-legal set of extra ability combinations.

Like a majority of you. I picked a variation I liked and stayed with it.
So did most people in games with customizable move lists, picking one build and sticking with it, perhaps only slightly tweaking it for what they believed to be bad matchups.

On topic: neither. Plus there's a possibility of tag team mode*, there's where enough variability (and brokeness) can come from.

* - Or was I bamboozled?

Neither or something new.

If the roster size increases like it did for previous games, then I feel doing either can be really hard to balance. I get everyone's disappointment in not having gear abilities in comp but some gear abilities are either just flat out ass or just bonkers.

Just pls don't make the whole Att/Def/HP/Skill things come back. Playing player matches against people who just stack defense or HP is just borderline impossible due to timeouts on top of how slow paced IJ2 is. Also seemed to divide the community into 3 gamemodes rather than 2 (Ranked and Player matches). I don't have numbers on that but I don't see how it couldn't have changed them

Variations or something new altogether.

It's 2018, and i want to see devs always trying to go beyond the bread and butter.

I'd rather see neither return. Gear makes everything so ugly...

I remember when injustice 1 came out a common complaint about character design was everyone looked like they were wearing armor.

Now with Injustice 2 its a feature and people love it because its shitty design that THEY got to throw together. The "my shit don't stink" effect

Gear is really great for customizing your characters even if some characters have clearly been favored over others. Gear moves to me are completely pointless outside of multiverse grinding because they're not usable in competitive mode, i.e. in an even-ground setting.

I liked variations in MKX, but they made pretty major balance issues for most of the game's life cycle. Still, there were only two options in the poll so I picked variations because the resulting gameplay is better than having gear moves I will never use.

I think they nailed both things. I don't see what all the hate on the gear system is, they made it optional. I play some builds at times just for fun. Variations were cool also but I would limit it to two so that we don't have a hard time balancing it. NRS games (aside from pokken) are the only games that are actually innovating on the FGC I don't see why people hate on these innovations. SF, Tekken, Smash etc have all stayed the same and haven't added anything new to FG. I think they should do gear for an MK game and variations for an injustice game. They could also do something completely new for the next game to this point I trust that they know what they are doing.
