Cyborg Match-up Discussion

SCARECROW

Pretty sure this was known before (but I didn't know so hence why I'm posting this, and for the person that did know this and didn't post this I WILL FIND YOU AND HUNT YOU DOWN WITH ALMIGHTY FLAMES...*cough mhm* back on topic) you can option select sonic disruptor with powerfist.

This means you can check scarecrow with SD and if he teleports you get a reversal DP punish. I figured this out training against my local scarecrow player DR. It's proved beneficial for me, but I'm still trying to work on using SD in matches.

So I picked up Cyborg purely to counter pick WoWo (I main Atros), and after playing around with his toolkit for a while now, I think I've got the hang of the character. But who else does Cyborg win / is even against? Or who does he lose to?

So just hold SD and wait for tele?

Yea, she is a challenge. Id say, for starters, play patient. You know she will be slinging her little shield. Try to read her in air diagonal shield toss. Pop her out the air with a up nova blast. Also on knock down or when you feel safe, lay down some mid or close TA's, so if she jumps itll catch her on her way down and you can get some nice damage or set up for more pressure. Thats all I got honestly.

Be careful on oki and putting down TAs, that shield bash wakeup might be able to punish the TA. MB shield bash also breaks armor. But I dont think her shield bash wake up is fully invisible, maybe try visiting the WoWo forums to see if anything stuffs it.

Don't jump over her on oki, as she has a wake up diagonal shield bash that she can get a full combo off of if you get anti aired.

Maybe try to grapple away on oki. But all in all WoWo is a strong Anti-zoner with high mobility and an annoying shield.

edit: jump back and fireball to stuff the up diagonal shield bash, also to avoid the regular bash

Akromaniac (plays WW) has a couple matches on Youtube of him versus some Cyborg players. FT10 against Ramarix and FT5 against Yungdee. Seems like the key is staying fullscreen out of Shield Toss range, chipping away, and staying slippery by grappling at the right time.

This Akromaniac dude is irritating.
Yeah, he can get a bit salty on some of his videos. But he knows his WW stuff cold, and has a pretty good understanding of the whole game in general. He has a great WW guide, and even some solid frame data guides on his channel. He puts out a lot of solid content.

My strategy against Enchantress:
  • get early life lead (I like to neutral jump at start of match and catch her with her advancing normals)
  • stay full screen at all times, make Enchantress come to you and punish her impatience
  • backdash hex attempts
  • be very careful with your zoning --> try to time your NB and TA such that her wall will eat 1 of them and she will block or get hit by the other
  • call air trait whenever it becomes available, and combine its entry with TA and NB (after the early life lead, the chip damage from this trait-initiated zoning will be your main source of damage)
  • don't overextend yourself, don't give her mistakes to punish --> if you have a life lead and if your hex backdashes are on point, it's on Enchantress to come to you and take risks
  • main goal: WIN BY TIMEOUT

Good tips at Ram, I justed started backdating her hex attempts, can' believe I wasn't doing it before lol.

ENCHANTRESS
After going into practice mode, I just found out that Enchantress shield doesn't cover her whole hurtbox. There's a sweet spot just above the shield that that if you do an air fireball it will go over the shield and still hit her. Will upload in a bit.

ENCHANTRESS:
-Stuffing Wakeup after grab (strict timing but worth learning)
-b12 to stuff wakeup after 12b2PF EX PF f2 TA (regular wakeup, does not work vs. Tech Roll)

ENCHANTRESS:
-Using NB to go over shield
-Useful to prevent spells behind shield if done correctly

Nice! I love landing that B12 on her lol. You can also ji2 after a grab, jumps over her wakeup and crosses up.

SWAMPTHING
I've labbing against swamp thing a bit. To block his f23(overhead) and f2XXlog(low) mixup you have to fuzzy then high, then low. Even though practice mode shows the low coming out first, the log hits twice, with the first hit is a mid and the second is a low. This means the low comes later than the overhead option.

Still practicing the f233 vs. f23XXlog fuzzy though. :D

I personally don't care about MU numbers, but everything Reo described regarding each matchup was spot on. Hellboy as well, I remember discussing with someone in chat about it on why I hated the matchup. Good to know I'm not crazy.

Also, grapple is definitely NOT a viable option against Enchantress. Her d2 hitbox is insane and punishes it 90% of the time, not even worth it.
